“Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.” - Psalm 51:9-14 (KJV)

#ISeeYouShining • “The Benz”
*History behind the Mercedes Benz pendant

Rakim

Mercedes-Benz pendant transformed from a simple automotive symbol into a prominent hip-hop jewelry icon during the mid-1980s golden era. Originally designed in 1909 to symbolize Gottlieb Daimler’s ambition for motor dominance across land, sea, and air, the three-pointed star took on an entirely new cultural meaning when pioneering artists like Rakim, Ice-T, and Kool Moe Dee began wearing oversized gold versions on heavy rope chains. For a generation of artists rising out of difficult economic environments, rocking a massive luxury car emblem was a theatrical, un-apologetic declaration of financial success and elite style. Today, the pendant remains a timeless staple in streetwear fashion, bridging the gap between classic German luxury engineering and old-school hip-hop nostalgia.

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.” - Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (KJV)
