Louder Than Hate is a local non profit organization, that fundraises for marginalized communities in the Austin area. We host an annual fundraising event and release an annual protest compilation, all for humanitarian and civil rights causes - LOUDER THAN HATE - NOW OR NEVER. LOUDER TOGETHER.

Our Mission statement : To support and defend the civil rights of marginalized communities by fundraising through music, art, and culture for organizations like Equality Texas and the Transgender Education Network of Texas, to eliminate harmful and abusive legislation in Texas.

To end the assault of inhumane rhetoric towards marginalized groups in Texas, and build a society where the civil rights of all people are protected and celebrated. In the past 2 years we have raised over $4k and we are committed to continue our work towards our mission. We are just getting started.

In order to spread the word, we need to become more visible to the community we work for. Establishing trust with other like minded organizations and individuals is an ongoing focus for Louder Than Hate. In 2026, we partnered w/ Stupid Monday Records and the Transgender Education Network of Texas. It was something special, that's for certain.

Do something! Anything to get involved! Support your creative friends and your local music or art scene.

While following invisible threads through the music for my latest Empress Media editorial, another “coincidence” appeared. I don’t believe in coincidences but this cosmic writing staff is suspiciously committed to the plot. 😂

Thirty years ago, a roommate introduced me to Sense Field’s Killed for Less. “Voice” felt like a signal.
Months later, I knocked on the wrong van door in Texas and met Jimmy Eat World. They promised to dedicate a song to us.

The song? “Call It in the Air.”
The message? “No way to retrace.”

That trip showed me where I belonged. What followed taught me to fear visibility and make myself smaller. When my son was born, I retreated further to protect my children. Twenty-three years later, he told me I had done my job well and deserved to return to what made me happy.

At nineteen, “Call It in the Air” sounded like an invitation to leave. Now it sounds like permission to become.

Call it intuition, spirit, pattern recognition or cosmic conspiracy. The titles make their own case: a “Voice” on Killed for Less, a signal while Static Prevails, a Split Decision that taught me to Kill the Noise, and All My Friends reminding me we are louder together.

What is louder than hate? Love. Human connection. All of us, together.
That is why the Human Archive exists.

The universe sent its message: “No way to retrace.” This time, it’s my turn to answer:
Bet.

Follow the rabbit hole and support the humans making the music: Fire Sale and The Corps’ Split Decision, Gameface’s All My Friends, If I Die Screaming’s Ten Inches of Water on NOW OR NEVER. LOUDER TOGETHER! Vol. 2, Jimmy Eat World’s Static Prevails and Sense Field’s Killed for Less.

Listen closely. Follow the thread. See how far the ripple travels. 🐇✨

“Ten Inches of Water” by If I Die Screaming is about what happens when something dismissed as insignificant becomes deep enough to drown in and it appears on NOW OR NEVER. LOUDER TOGETHER! Vol. 2, a benefit compilation supporting the Transgender Education Network of Texas.

But, naturally, the human connection circles all the way back. I met Jon Sinko at Jon Bunch’s memorial; years later, a photograph Jon sent me opened another rabbit hole just as Todd Trout was helping me understand how to begin this project. Two people from seemingly separate parts of my life both connected through If I Die Screaming, quietly making sure I didn’t retreat into survival mode again.

Call it coincidence if you want. I’m calling it evidence that the lives we touch create ripples and sometimes those ripples return exactly when we need them.

Get the song through @diversechorusrecords and support the mission behind the music.

NONLTV2 Preorder is Live 💥

NOW OR NEVER. LOUDER TOGETHER Vol 2. is exclusively on the DIVERSE CHORUS RECORDS Bandcamp, July 24, 2026 available, free with your donation to The Transgender Education Network of Texas, which is tax deductible and much appreciated!

Presented by LOUDER THAN HATE, NOW OR NEVER. LOUDER TOGETHER! VOL. 2 compilation features exclusive singles by Topdown, If I Die Screaming, and more, available now w/ your preorder purchase/donation.

…and LOUDER THAN HATE is celebrating with a release show, FRIDAY AUGUST 7th, 2026 - NONLTV2 compilation artists SUBPAR SNATCH, CORMAE, TOPDOWN, PSYCHEDELIC MAGGOT ENGINE, & HONEYBUNNY @29thstballroom, benefiting the TRANSGENDER EDUCATION NETWORK OF TEXAS.

Our 2nd exclusive track is the debut single, from Orange County’s If I Die Screaming. Featuring an ensemble cast of former (and current members) of Gameface, Big Drill Car, Field Day, Faded Grey, Backlash, and Vis. While hints of Superchunk, Lifetime, Gameface and Big Drill Car are present, the band’s sound is far from pigeon-holed.

Guitarist, Todd Trout, shared “In 2024, I found myself sidelined while recovering from a couple of surgeries. During that time, songwriting became my outlet as I poured the struggles, setbacks, and emotions I was having into music.”

Being invited to be part of LOUDER THAN HATE is important because it represents something we believe to be true, that music has the power to unite people from different backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences while supporting equality and organizations that serve those in need. The old saying goes one can drown in ten inches of water while another can drown in ten feet of water, either way they’re both still drowning. Hate is similar. Whether it’s blatant oppression or in quieter forms of prejudice or intolerance, hate consumes people regardless of its size.
We believe music has a unique ability to break down barriers and remind us of our shared humanity and help people be seen.” - Jon Sinko

Some music is meant to entertain. Some music is meant to remind you that you’re not alone.

One of the things I love most about the independent music community is that it has always been about more than just the music. It’s about connection, belonging, and creating space for voices that deserve to be heard.

I’m excited to see my friends in If I Die Screaming featured on Now or Never: Louder Together Vol. 2 from Diverse Chorus Records.

This project is more than a compilation—it’s a way for artists and listeners to come together in support of LGBTQ+ voices and others who continue to fight for equality, visibility, and acceptance.

The compilation is available for pre-order now, with release day coming soon. I can’t wait for everyone to hear what these artists have created and to support a project built around community, inclusion, and solidarity.

Pre-order Now or Never: Louder Together Vol. 2 here:

Independent music has always been at its best when it gives people a place to belong. Let’s keep supporting the artists, labels, and communities that make that possible.

Support the music. Support independent artists. Keep the community loud. ✌️❤️✨🤘

NOW OR NEVER. LOUDER TOGETHER! VOL. 2 compilation
Preorder launches today on the Diverse Chorus Records Bandcamp page, w/ exclusive singles by Topdown, If I Die Screaming, Mother Maiden Crone, HoneyBunny, Bob Mann, and more, available now w/ your preorder purchase/donation.

NOW OR NEVER. LOUDER TOGETHER Vol 2. is exclusively on Bandcamp July 24, 2026 available, free with your donation to The Transgender Education Network of Texas. You can participate in the fundraising campaign online at our website or via this post directly. Your donation is tax deductible and much appreciated.

LOUDER THAN HATE presents NOW OR NEVER. LOUDER TOGETHER! VOL.2 compilation release show, FRIDAY AUGUST 7th, 2026 featuring NONLTV2 compilation artists SUBPAR SNATCH, CORMAE, TOPDOWN, PSYCHEDELIC MAGGOT ENGINE, & HONEYBUNNY @29thstballroom, benefiting the TRANSGENDER EDUCATION NETWORK OF TEXAS.

To kick off our preorder, Austin’s most exciting melodic post hardcore band, Topdown releases an exclusive track written specifically with our cause in mind, called Blank Stare. (FFO Quicksand, Deftones, Narrow Head).

“In my life I’ve witnessed a lot of progress for the LGBTQIA+ community. Growing up, being trans or being a gay/queer person (like myself) was still very stigmatized, but change was happening. We started gaining rights and protection. Rhetoric was starting to shift towards acceptance. Now we’re rapidly moving backwards and it’s hard to act like everything is normal. Women’s rights aren’t even safe. People are being punished for speaking out against evil, while blatant corruption is ignored. This song is about how lately, there’s been so much suffering throughout the world and we’re stuck having to go about our lives as if everything is fine.” - Grace Bertman, frontwoman of Topdown.

AVAILABLE EXCLUSIVELY ON DIVERSE CHORUS RECORDS BANDCAMP - preorder the compilation now.

Be kind, build community, take care of each other!
