It’s been a year since ‘AFRODITIES’ came into existence, yes a year already, and just yesterday evening before our gig at @monkey_barkol (It was a loss if you missed it) I was sitting and thinking that maybe we are not doing enough, and that we’re not yet where we want us to be…..then it struck me, a year ago we wanted to be exactly where we are right now. This was the dream to begin with, to bring to life a collective that shares a common love for Afro dance and performing and learning in general and to be happy and content doing what we love to do and especially building community, spreading love and joy! And in the process of doing so, we did do alot, we achieved more than we thought we could, we reached out to people more than we thought we could as a team and as individuals as well.
This realisation swooped me out of my thoughts immediately and made me so so proud of whatever this is. It’s not the best, it’s not enough, there’s so much more we can do, but this is still amazing. 🧞‍♀️

CONGRATULATIONS ON COMPLETING A YEAR IN THIS JOURNEY! 🥂

Showman had their first stage performance on 23rd August, "Sitaarein". The bonds never felt new, it felt family, it was never easy to put up an independent musical theatre production with 90% of the people with 0 experience of what they were stepping into, but i think sheer belief and trust on each other brought us a way out.

Cheers to Theatre
Cheers to Showman
To more productions soon⭐️

We Afrodities are always up for tests. This was a test of versatility. No matter what the thought behind the choreography is, our main focus is always having fun on stage. Thank you @showman.theatre @priyangshubanikk for this collaboration. Loved sharing stage with the sweetest and most talented @_anitizer_07 🤍
