NATURE PAYOUT: ⚡️Dodging Raindrops for the Ultimate Lightning Bolts ⚡⛈️

Keeping camera lenses perfectly dry during an intense Florida thunderstorm is a never-ending battle—but when Mother Nature puts on a show like this, you push through the elements

For this reel, I set up two different GoPros right in the heart of the action. Even with raindrops hitting the glass, the lightning bolts captured here are absolutely mind-blowing. The sky completely tears open, showcasing the raw, unfiltered grit of a major storm as it peaks. This is exactly where Bobby Wummer Photography is in his ultimate zen zone—waiting hours in the pitch black for that one hypnotic, 3D-like flash of power.

I’m not much of a lightning ⚡️ videographer so don’t shoot the piano 🎹 man. I know there’s a lot of grainy noise in the video. But just take it for what it’s worth the Lightning that’s what it’s all about. I just wanted to show the intense wrath of this storm.

UNDER THE FLORIDA STARS: LONG EXPOSURE ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY 🌌📸

There is something deeply humbling about standing in the pitch-black heart of Everglades National Park, listening to the sounds of the night, and pointing your lens toward the heavens. Aside from surviving a relentless assault from mosquitoes the size of 747s, it was an absolutely perfect night for stargazing and trying to capture the “Milky Way”.

Astrophotography is the specialized practice of photographing or imaging celestial objects, constellations, and events in the night sky.
True astrophotography requires a sturdy tripod, precise manual focusing, and long exposures that leave the camera’s “window” open to collect faint starlight over 15 to 25 seconds. When the conditions line up—zero moon, clear skies, and low light pollution—the camera sensor reveals the spectacular, glowing dust lanes of our own Milky Way Galaxy.

These shots capture the ultimate, quiet power of Mother Nature after the sun goes down.
Which shot is your favorite? Let me know below! 👇

Lightning strikes twice when the water turns to glass. ⛈️✨

There is nothing quite like a hot Florida summer night when the wind completely dies down, and a massive thunderstorm builds directly over the open water. When the surface becomes as still as a sheet of glass, the long exposures truly capture the magic.

The way these massive electrical bolts reflect perfectly off the water is absolutely hypnotizing to look at in person—it blends the raw, chaotic power of the sky with a mirror-like calm below.

Every single one of these shots required hours of patience, precise timing, and tracking the perfect cell to get these clear reflections. No filters, no AI—just nature showing off its absolute best.

Which reflection is your favorite? Let me know in the comments! 👇

There is something mesmerizing about watching a storm organize itself. You sit there waiting, watching the clouds bruise and the pressure drop, knowing what’s coming. Then, without warning, the sky rips open. Those first few bolts are always the most electric—raw, crisp, and putting on a masterclass before the heavy rain moves in and blurs the view. Captured perfection right at the opening act. ⚡⛈️#StormChasing #LightningStrike #WeatherPhotography #thunderstorm

⚡️BOLD & ELECTRIFYING LIGHTNING PHOTOGRAPHY⚡️

Chasing the raw, untamed power of nature. There is absolutely NOTHING like the adrenaline rush of waiting for a massive bolt of lightning to rip through the night sky. When the Florida storms roll in, my batteries are charged, thermos is filled with coffee, and I’m ready to roll out the door.

Hours of waiting. Miles of driving. Plenty of “milk runs” where the storm fizzles out completely. But then... you get nights like these. Mother Nature makes you earn it, but when she delivers, there is absolutely nothing like it. Pure, unfiltered power.⚡️

No filters. No AI stuff. Just perfect timing, a lot of patience, and ultimate respect for the storms. ⚡️⛈️

The lightning Gods were good to me last night. The Bahamas storms and some came pretty close to our coast like this one.

When these Bahamas 🇧🇸 storms toss out bolts they really can trough them right at me. I was using my Canon 1DX II along with my Canon 200mm F 2.8 lens to capture this one.
20 seconds in manual long exposure, ISO 100, at F8.
