HEADS UP SUNDAY SITTERS: The Hello Sunday Sit will move to 10 am eastern starting this weekend - that’s an entire extra hour to sleep in! I’m grateful and proud to host this sit as part of the @collective_care_club each week with our thoughtful, loving sangha. If you haven’t joined us because of the earlier time and/or are curious about meditation, there’s no experience necessary and we’d love to have you. DM me with questions or grab the details from my bio.

My 762nd Reel: Teacher’s Pet

I am so incredibly lucky to still be in touch with my favorite teacher from high school, Ms. Michaud. Because her daughter moved to NYC right around the same time I did, I’ve been able to see her and her husband whenever they’ve visited for the past two decades.

And every single meeting, I have the privilege of telling her directly just how much of an impact she’s had on my life. And then we both cry. And then we catch up more.

But it is worth repeating every time because I might not even be alive if it wasn’t for her. She saw something in me; she pushed me; and she supported me when I was struggling to exist. Even when I didn’t have the words, she knew. And that unspoken love got me through.

Whenever I give keynote speeches to groups of educators, I often lead an activity where I ask everyone to think of the one teacher who significantly changed their lives. Without fail, every person in the room can name someone (and probably even a few). It is the ultimate reminder that teachers are, without a doubt, changing the world one student at a time.

I know that I am the type of educator I am today because of the teachers who showed me what it looks like to be caring, wise, strong-willed, passionate, empowering, and empathetic. And I hope that some of that gets passed onto my students too.

So please take a moment to be a little more grateful for the educators who helped make us who you/we are today. If you have a teacher or a mentor who changed your life, send them a text, an email, or a DM. Tell them while you can. It means more than you know.

As a special surprise during our Adirondack yoga retreat, @jenna_steffen_ led a blindfolded class on the lawn! 🙈👀

Blindfold yoga is a fun, challenging, and deeply immersive practice that heightens the other senses, invites trust, and asks us to tune inward in a new way.

With sight removed, movement becomes more intuitive and mindful, leading to us feeling more present. It’s reminder that yoga isn’t about how we look but how we feel. And yes, falling is a part of the fun!

If you’re interested in taking your practice somewhere new, stay tuned for an upcoming blindfold class with @jenna_steffen_ in studio. Dates coming soon!
