This month, we are celebrating 6 years of the Instagramers community here in Seattle! Happy birthday to us! 🎈🎁🎉
⠀
We wouldn’t be here today without all of the people that came before us who stepped up to lead the community, all of the people who have participated in our ongoing challenges, every single person who has attended one of our instameets and all who have shared the over 470k images to the #igers_seattle community tag. Most importantly, we wouldn’t be here without YOU! 💙
⠀
Thank you all for being a part of this awesome community! ⠀

Valeriy #makeportraits
⠀
This is Valeriy [pronounced Vuh-lair-ee], also known as @mrvalography and the other half of @igers_seattle. Usually behind the lens, he’s a good sport in letting me get some portrait practice in. Valeriy is an amazing artist and friend, and has become one my closest friends who I’ve met through Instagram. If you aren’t already familiar with his work, he is a must follow for some of the most beautiful landscapes of the PNW. Make sure to say hi at our next instameet, and for double points- bring donuts!

I don’t always share photos of my food, mostly because I love food and eat it right away, but when I do it’s typically staged and captured with the iPhone 7 Plus! #ShotOniPhone
⠀⠀
Last night I had the amazing opportunity to co-host the #CreativePlateSeattle instameet with @yomichaela and @creativelive as we observed and learned from food photography master @andrewscrivani who was kind enough to share insightful information on capturing the essence of food photography.
⠀⠀
There’s nothing quite like getting the community together, to share, shoot and get creative; learning from one another and exploring new perspectives. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend and be a part of this event; it’s always a pleasure making new friends and seeing old, familiar faces.
⠀⠀
As a photographer who’s focus is fairly specific and set on landscapes, it was fun to break out of my comfort zone and challenge myself. I’m a huge advocate of discovering your passion and niche then focusing on developing that style but I’m also all about challenging your creativty. It’s a very beneficial idea to explore new creativite concepts when it comes to your art, not only to discover what you do and don’t like but also to give your mind the opportunity to think outside the box which will ultimately help broaden your horizons and keep your focus fresh. I hope you all are finding ways to challenge your creativity on a daily basis!
⠀⠀
If you didn’t have the opportunity to make it to the #CreativePlateSeattle instameet last night be sure to take a moment and explore the tag, there were so many fun shots captured that any photographer or food enthusiast would enjoy. For those who did make it to the event, keep tagging your photos for a chance to win one of the prizes that were announced at the meet! If you’re interested in joining the experience next time be sure to follow @igers_seattle for future updates and exciting weekly challenges; we’re always doing what we can to inspire creativity within the community keeping you connected, challenged and engaged!

Evenings like tonight are my favorite.
.
I sincerely enjoyed reconnecting with some of my favorite community members and meeting so many new ones who made it out for the first time tonight!
.
I was also able to teach some Instagram basics and tips to new users, that weren't a part of our community, and to see the excitement on their faces was the sweetest. With my experience with the app and the general user level I'm usually surrounded by, I think I take it for granted sometimes. To the newer users though, it's the little things and basics that bring a sense of joy and accomplishment, and I was happy to be a part of that.
.
Moments like tonight, being in the center of community and being able to help people really are the best. Thank you all for being a part of that! 💖✨ #meetfredhutch
