I didn’t expect to be signing autographs at Thursday night’s basketball shootout.

A parent came up and asked if I had a Fridays with Coach K book. I told her not yet.

She looked over at the wall where the Fridays with Coach K posters were hanging and thought they were books. I explained they were posters from the program, and she pointed to two of them and said she wanted those.

So I went over and grabbed the two posters she picked out. As I was walking away, she stopped me and said:

“Wait… aren’t you going to autograph them?”

Of course I did.

What made the moment even better was realizing the Phoenix Press student journalists — Christina Hinojos and Maya Evans — were right there documenting it.

While the crowd was focused on the game, they were capturing the story behind the scenes.

Proud of the work our Phoenix Press students are doing at @igniteftworth

Some stories happen on the court.
Others are written by the students watching it all unfold.

Today was one of those sweet, quiet wins that reminds us why we keep showing up.

We had the honor of surprising students with awards for leadership, academics, and positive behavior — and listen… the looks on their faces said EVERYTHING. 🥹

They weren’t expecting it.
No big announcements.
No hints.

Just their names being called and realizing…
“Wait… me?”

Yes. YOU.

The student who helps others without being asked.

The one who keeps pushing their grades up.
The one who chooses respect when it’s hard.
The one who leads by example when no one’s watching.

We see it all.

There were smiles, shy grins, a few happy tears, and a whole lot of pride walking back into those classrooms today. Because sometimes the smallest recognition creates the biggest confidence boost.

Celebrating kids for who they’re becoming is just as important as celebrating what they achieve.

And trust us… this is only the beginning.

🔥 When students go BIG… we go BIGGER. 🔥

When students raise their effort, their mindset, and their expectations, we match it with louder praise, bigger celebrations, and real recognition. Around here, growth doesn’t get ignored. Excellence doesn’t get minimized. And progress, no matter where it starts, gets honored.

You show up?
We show out.

You lead?
We elevate it.

You push past what was expected?
We go even further to remind you that it matters.

This is how confidence is built.
This is how momentum is created.
This is how Fostering Success looks in real time. 🌟
