Mystery In Space No. 70 // Sept. 1961 // DC - Carmine Infantino/Murphy Anderson cover art.
HAPPY 100TH BIRTHDAY to my favorite comic book artist of all time, CARMINE INFANTINO 👑 ⭐️ When I started this IG account six years ago last month, I set out to collect every Adam Strange issue of Mystery In Space that Infantino penciled, and have many fond memories of spending that pre-pandemic spring and summer of 2019 digging through boxes at Mysterious Time Machine in Manhattan and Koch’s Comic Warehouse in Brooklyn (RIP to both 😢) looking for the goods 🚀 And so it only seems fitting that my first post on the day that marks 100 years since Infantino was born be a good ol’ #AdamStrangeSaturday and #SilverAgeSaturday one ☄️ 🪐 🛸
⬅️ SWIPE ⬅️, as always, to check out Carmine Infantino and frequent collaborator Murphy Anderson giving us the Silver Age goods in one of my favorite stories, “Vengeance Of The Dust Devil!” 💫!

The Flash No. 107 // July 1959 // DC - Carmine Infantino/Joe Giella cover art.
So, technically this was a pickup in December of last year…but I didn’t post it until this past Flash February ⚡️ A slight bending of the #Top31ComicFindsOf2024 rules, perhaps. But often books come my way in December that are worthy of this particular roundup a year later 🤷🏻‍♂️ At any rate, I grabbed this Silver Age dynamo at LA Comic Con at the tail-end of last year 🦍 Notable for the #secondappearance of everyone’s fave Flash villain, Grodd 🦍 ⬅️ SWIPE ⬅️ to catch more of Infantino & Giella’s amazing artwork from inside ⚡️.

All Star Western No. 118 // May 1961 // DC - Gil Kane cover art.
Just gonna keep the #SixGunsAndSideDishes roll going with Madame .44, here making her second appearance 👩🏻‍🦰🤠 In this one, some bandits do some BS, Johnny Thunder goes temporarily blind, there’s a wolf on a bridge at some point…then BAMMO!! Madame and Johnny FINALLY HIT it! 🥰 🌵 🐴 I couldn’t fit all the pages in, but you can ➡️ SWIPE ➡️ to catch some really beautiful interior artwork by Kane & Joe Giella for cover story “The Eyes Of Johnny Thunder!” 👀!

Bat Lash No. 7 // Nov. 1969 // DC - Nick Cardy cover art.
Sadly, western rascal Bat Lash had a short run in his initial outing -- and we’ve come to the final issue for #SixGunsAndSideDishes and #NickCardyNovember 🌵 Flipping through this one, I can’t help feeling that the Don Pasqual character was at least loosely based on Eli Wallach’s hilariously unforgettable turn as Tuco in The Good, The Bad And The Ugly 🤔 ⬅️ SWIPE ⬅️ to catch some interior action from the last issue of Bat Lash’s original late Silver Age run … which, appropriately, has a November cover date 🤠🐴.
