No place like home💙

Homecoming means returning to your home, country, or a place where you used to live or study. My definition is coming home to my family💙

Welcoming my 30th birthday in a new city, with a new job, but the same mission.

So, no big photoshoot this year or a trip to an Island right now. 😅

Just celebrating my new zip code. Thankful to God I got to see thirty. Can’t wait to see what’s in store.

Long Caption: (I hope you stay till the end) 👩🏽‍🎓

On December 11th (exactly 4 years since I received my first Master’s degree), I graduated with my second Master’s in School Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi.

For those who don’t know, in order to receive your Ph.D, you must get through the prerequisites to receive your masters. In order to do this, one must:
- complete all necessary credits
- Pass a written and oral comp exam
- Propose and Defend a thesis research project
- Get through all the other curveballs that life could bring you.

When I started this degree 4 years ago, I was a young girl. Today, I am a woman. A woman that has seen first hand how your dreams have to be louder than the enemies voice. People are going to tell you all of the things you cannot do. It is important that you smile and precede to prove them wrong. Not because their opinion matters, but because when It comes to you and Your God, It cannot hold any weight. You learn through obstacles that God is here to carry you through each “roadblock” that tries to stop you. To achieve greatness, the biggest obstacle that you must face is yourself. Your beliefs, your insecurities, your weaknesses, your patterns, your pain. It is important you learn to do this. This journey has taught me so much. It has matured me, It has strengthened my faith, and It has prepared me for the rooms I will walk in.

A special shout out to all the friends and family that came to support me and have supported me during this time. It’s the people that stick by you, and show up for you that mean the most. The ones that drive the hour and a half to celebrate you, catch the flight, or even watched my ceremony. Regardless of how you showed up, thank you.

Guys, The only thing standing between me and this Ph.D is a year long internship and defending my dissertation. After everything, I can say, IT’S already on the way.

James‬ ‭1‬:‭12‬ ‭NIV‬‬
“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.”
