🌈 Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia—a day to stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community and challenge harmful stereotypes.

“I Identify as Me.” (@iidentifyasme) 📽️is a groundbreaking series that challenges the age-old belief in a fixed, binary understanding of gender. Through the raw, authentic stories of eight individuals—Black & Brown Trans, gender-diverse people, and masculine-presenting women—we witness the impact of systemic power and the beauty of embracing one’s true identity.

Join us in celebrating diversity and amplifying LGBTQ+ voices.  @iidentifyasme Directed/Produced by Tina Colleen (@tina.colleen)and Monick Monell (@brooklyn_moz) with People of Color Productions (@pocproductions) #socialjustice #indiefilm #filmmakers #lgbtq #lgbtq🌈 #lgbtqia #equality #genderequality

Growing up all I ever wanted to do was be a teacher. I really didn’t know what exactly that meant until I started immersing myself into this documentary project. This project has liberated me, changed me, allowed me to see the world and its raw truths. I learned that my purpose as a teacher—an educator exists beyond institutional education and I’m still moving through what that means. So when “I Identify as Me” was selected to be apart of a Black History Month museum exhibit, words cannot describe how much that meant to me. To have the film showcased in an educational platform especially during this month—it’s truly seeing my visions become reality. It’s wealth, it’s abundance, more than money can buy. Thank you to my ancestors and Spirit for your continued belief in me. Thank you to my friends and family who are my rock. Thank you to the Justice Film Festival for this honor. Thank you to the cast for your vulnerability, and for trusting us with your stories. Thank you to Monick @brooklyn_moz , Ley @leycomas , Chelsi @chelsibullard and Flor @flordeoro_ for all that you have done for this project—you really hold me together as we continue this journey. Thank you to people who have supported and donated throughout the years…we’re just getting started.
