What an honour it was to serve as a judge at the inaugural @esucayman English Speaking Union Cayman Islands Competition Day, themed "Discovering Voices" last Sunday at the Grand Cayman Marriott!.

It was great to reconnect with familiar faces from Rotary Central Cayman Islands and Grand Cayman Toastmasters Club, many of whom were serving as officials and volunteers throughout the event.

I was also honored to meet Her Excellency the Governor of the Cayman Islands, who joined the final judging panel for the championship round.

The competition showcased some of the brightest young minds from across our islands. The confidence, intelligence, preparation, and courage displayed by these young speakers were truly remarkable. Each participant stepped up to the challenge and delivered outstanding performances that left a lasting impression on everyone in attendance.

To all the participants, congratulations on your achievement. You should be incredibly proud of yourselves. To the parents, teachers, and mentors who supported these young people along the way, thank you for being such positive role models and for helping to develop the next generation of leaders.

This event marked a significant milestone as Cayman's first Discovering Voices competition hosted by ESU Cayman, and we now have our first Cayman representative who will go on to compete on the global stage. I wish them every success as they represent our islands internationally.

When this event returns next year and I'm certainly it will, it is one you will not want to miss. To future participants, start preparing now. Your opportunity to shine could be just around the corner.

On Saturday, we had the pleasure of experiencing a gourmet delight featuring an innovative twist on Caribbean ingredients, thanks to Powder Monkey’s Caribbean Afternoon Tea held at Jasmine. Each bite was a dance of textures and flavors, making us appreciate the richness and diversity of Caribbean culture and cuisine. We had mini lectures throughout on the history and evolution of the food we were eating.

We were like stuffed pumkins at the end but it was well worth the effort🤣

A number of us from First Baptist Church were in attendance. We decided to take a photo of our stuffed selves.

Thanks again to Powder Monkey Gourmet Treats for a lovely afternoon and please check out their instagram @powdermonkeycayman as they often hold events featuring their amazing cuisine.

This is it, friends! This is why we live amazed. ‘And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.’ John 1:14

May your Christmas be filled with awe and wonder, your days overflow with peace and contentment, and your love touch everyone in your path. All because of Him and all for Him - the Word that became flesh and dwelt among us!
Merry Christmas, my friends!! 💕🙏🏽🎄 .

I’m still pondering God’s kindness to me. This weekend, my recently published devotional Live Amazed was launched in my local community, and God was there.🙂 I shouldn’t really be surprised because I know He’s a loving Father who delights in giving good gifts, but still His personal touch never fails to amaze me. Despite several hiccups throughout the day, there was a calm and peace to the event that could only be credited to Him.
For the prayers of family and friends near and far, the generous help of so many, the support of the attendees, and those little green succulents that were my surprise gift from God (because He knew), I am sooo grateful.
I pray that Live Amazed will continue to draw many into a deeper relationship with our Sovereign Lord who longs to be gracious to us. 🌸
