Margate Pride is just one of those days that makes me so unbelievably proud (teehee) to be queer and grateful to have found myself living here 🧡

It always has to be said: pride isn’t just a party, it’s a protest, because every single part of our community deserves to exist, live without fear, be exactly who they are and love whomstever they damn well wish, and Margate loves to be loud about it!

This year the importance of having somewhere to feel safe ✨seen✨ and apart of something felt especially close to home with the closure of our beloved @campmargate , our local community queer bar that I and so many, hold so dear to our hearts 💔

Losing it will leave a hole in Margate that no “limited edition pride collection” can disguise. So we celebrated, but we mourned too. For every niche night it gave us, every friendship group it started, every queer person who walked through its bifold doors spotting the giant disco ball (and full accessibility) and felt the sweet relief of home and belonging like i did. Because man is it gonna be missed. Becauae no matter how greedy landlords get, supporting the community is protecting our spaces, because regional queer spaces save lives!!!

Pride can’t exist where shame is present. Events like @margatepride remind each beautiful branch of the LGBTQIA+ family tree AND our allies, that we’re stronger together. We wore trans flag colours to support a community that needs raising up, not demonising. It’s simple, choose to reject hate and, instead, fight for what you know to be ethically correct - HUMAN RIGHTS. Stand up for your neighbours, friends and family, they need your support more than ever. My birthday weekend spent with my Ramsgate besties.

It’s not an especially big one, but every birthday is special to me - and I am so so lucky to have amazing friends who love to celebrate too and who spoilt me rotten.

And what a treat that Margate Pride happened this weekend too so we got to march with our best boys. 🌈

I’ll need a weekend to recover from this weekend! One for the memory bank ❤️
