✨ 2025 in review(s) ✨

Some of my favourite reviews and interviews from this year! Mostly written for @the1ndiescene (shocking, I know) but there’s a wee review for @karmamag in there too!

"Between tracks, Almqvist slipped into a flow state of surreal, rapid-fire ramblings. Part preacher, part game-show host, he conducted the crowd into collective delirium while drinks rained down from the balcony and crowd surfers tumbled out of the pit like big kids set loose."

The Hives (@thehives) brought their seventh album, 'The Hives Forever Forever The Hives', to O2 Academy Glasgow (@o2academygla) for a night to remember.

"Even in such an intimate venue, the pair’s attention to aesthetic detail was striking. Every shade of light, every pocket of stillness was finely chosen and carefully placed. If the crowd was initially subdued, it was because the band were already several scenes ahead, performing with the conviction of artists who knew the exact story they wanted to tell."

Sunday (1994) (@sunday1994forever) brought their 'Devotion' EP to Glasgow's Òran Mór (@oranmorglasgow).

While summer wraps up festival season, winter brings @icelandairwaves to Reykjavik — a citywide celebration of new sounds and stark landscapes. Running November 6–8, it mixes pop-up gigs, daytime talks, and nightly shows across seven venues. It’s been on my list for years: the adventurous lineups, the chance to explore Iceland by day and dive into live music by night. And with Múm playing Harpa on Sunday, it feels like the perfect blend of travel, discovery, and sound.

Honoured to be able to support such an incredible cause as this, would really appreciate if those who can support it come along for our set on October 10th. Tickets will be handled at doors as a donation toward the cause of suicide prevention.

On an overcast Saturday afternoon, we sat down with bbno$ (@bbnomula) in Soho, on a bench dedicated in memory of ‘Fairytale of New York’ singer Kirsty MacColl, and discussed being an independent artist (much to labels’ attempts at signing him), how he should definitely name check Milton Keynes in a song, being ghosted by fellow musicians, his next album – he stopped the interview to show us the music video for ‘boom’ before its release – and much, much more.

Down-to-earth, characteristically funny, Alexander Gumuchian – aka bbno$ – knows what he’s good at, and he isn’t planning to slow down any time soon.
