On Sunday, in the middle of a blizzard, nearly 30 people made their way to a gathering for the very first New York stop of the Breathtaking book tour. It was so special, and my heart is full!

This gathering was hosted by 3 Epic Sisters, Doreen, Mia, and Ilana, from my May 2025 Epic Women Zion adventure who live in the area. These women opened their arms and their hearts to help elevate me, my book, and my work. Another Epic Sister, Susan, the connective force behind our group of 13, flew in from Atlanta to be there.

Most of the people who attended were new to me. They were friends & family invited by the hosts. Alongside those new faces, and the Epic Sisters who hosted, were a few familiar ones, including Ben, whom I hadn’t seen in 19 years, and Chrissy, who traveled from Connecticut and had been part of my 2021 Epic Women Zion cohort.

By the end of the gathering, I had connected with people I would never otherwise have met. I can’t tell you how much that touches me.

And the food! An abundant, soulful, wildly delicious spread—most of it lovingly prepared by Doreen, an epic human and truly exceptional chef, with beautiful contributions baked and brought by others as well.

For my part, I shared my backstory and the long, winding path that led to writing Breathtaking, followed by a reading from the book—Find Your Way Back to Yourself.

I was asked so many thoughtful, wide-ranging questions. Most of them were questions I haven’t been asked on the book tour.

This book tour means so much, largely because it’s carrying me from the quiet frontier of Wyoming into the cities, homes, and organizations of people who have been, or are, part of my Epic and Breathtaking journey.

In my 15th year of this work, it feels like a full-circle moment and a celebration of so much more than a book or a body of work. It’s a celebration of relationships—and of what it means to connect genuinely with others and to stay connected over time.
I am more than I was before as a result of Sunday’s breathtakingly beautiful gathering. My heart is full, and I’m overflowing with gratitude.

Next up: this afternoon and evening—gatherings with a law firm and a bank in Midtown Manhattan.

Our influence as parents, especially mothers, shapes career confidence in our daughters (and sons).

Even when we do not realize it, our daughters are paying attention. What they absorb from how we talk about work and navigate life may shape their own confidence and career direction in ways we never expected.

In this episode, Lisa chats with licensed counselor and career expert, Ilana Levitt, @whatsmomthebook, and we dig into this very tension. You'll hear us talk about
• How “good advice” can sometimes disguise our own unfulfilled dreams
• Why trying to help can sometimes feel like pressure
• How to encourage independence while staying emotionally connected
• How to notice, not judge, who your child really is

This is a can't-miss episode for every mom out there (especially for those of us with daughters)!

Comment 193 and we'll send the episode straight to your DMs.

Even when we do not realize it, our daughters are paying attention. What they absorb from how we talk about work and navigate life may shape their own confidence and career direction in ways we never expected.

On this episode of the College and Career Clarity podcast, I am joined by @ilanatlevitt with @whatsmomthebook , licensed counselor and career development expert, to explore how the mother-daughter relationship influences career confidence.

You will hear us talk about:
• The messages daughters receive from how their moms talk about their jobs
• Why trying to help can sometimes feel like pressure
• How to encourage independence while staying emotionally connected
• The value of sharing your full career story, including the messy parts

🎧 Comment 193 to discover how your daughter’s career confidence is shaped by the stories you tell, and the ones you don’t.

I just wrapped up an Epic experience with 13 breathtaking forces of nature—women ages 42 to 69. Each one wildly different. Each one radiant, courageous, and unforgettable.
Their names are Susan, Mia, Mona, Stephanie, Jill, Alexia, Jennifer, Ilana, Jocelyn, Rachel, Joanne, Coretha, and Doreen. I will be forever grateful to them—for how they showed up, leaned in, dared big, laughed hard, loved well, and made this one of the most meaningful weeks of my life.
We hiked silently through canyons, meditated beside a babbling brook beneath Lady Mountain, and held hands during a full moon circle.
We waded the Virgin River, belted out our “Shake Your Booty & Stir Your Soul” playlists, rappelled into slot canyons, and shared soul-deep truths late into the night.
Since 2013, I’ve led these Epic programs through my company, Epic Life Inc. They’re not just about hiking—they’re about coming home to yourself.
The women I work with are often at a threshold. They’re craving more meaning, more purpose. I help them explore not just the wilderness outside, but the wilderness within.
What Clarissa Pinkola Estés calls “a gathering up of bones”—the remembering of the parts we’ve buried, forgotten, or silenced. I stood in awe and witnessed shifts and change.
But what stays with me most are the thirteen brave, fun, funny, and breathtaking women—now sisters—whom I’ll never forget, and already miss. #epicadventures #epiclife #breathtaking

I invite you all to join us for our virtual Vision Board workshop on January 14th. It’s a wonderful opportunity to focus on manifesting your goals. The session will be led by Ilana, the owner of Ilana and Associates, who brings 31 years of experience in career counseling. She is also the author of What’s Mom Still Got to Do With It. As a proud associate of Ilana’s practice, I’ve had the privilege of working under her mentorship for 15 years, honing my own skills in career counseling. If you haven’t had the chance to hear Ilana speak, I highly recommend experiencing her inspiring words of encouragement. #career #goals #2025 #visionboard
