Meet Oliver. If you want a cat who gazes at you adoringly and falls asleep beside you, he’s your guy.

After Penny was adopted, he left a big hole in my heart. I decided to try fostering, and Oliver filled that space almost immediately. When we lived in Bushwick, I cared for three large cat colonies before and after my full-time job. I knew how much fosters mattered to rescue, but I didn’t have the time or energy or money to become one. Now I finally can but until end of this month.

Oliver came from our friend Ilene’s colony. His caretakers brought him inside after finding him thin and drooling from severe stomatitis. Once he felt safe, they discovered he wasn’t feral—just frightened and incredibly affectionate.

He’s had his teeth removed, is recovering well, and is FIV/FeLV negative. He loves his three catnip toys, his scratching post, and watching the world from the window. If I’m away too long, he lets me know he misses me. At night, he looks at me until he falls asleep, which is why I keep ending up on the floor beside him.

Oliver is looking for a loving forever home or long term foster from October where he can be the only cat and have someone to snuggle with. He has so much love to give. ❤️ could you be his person?

When NARN-CB was started back in 2018, we were thinking primarily about efficiency. Rescuers at all levels in a specific locale could work together to share resources, learn from each other, and collaborate on projects. And that's exactly what we do. And yes, we are hella efficient! The part we *didn't* anticipate was the community that developed -- the friendships and the emotional support. Now, we recognize the incalculable value of that. We have regular get-togethers to eat, drink, blow off steam, and of course talk about cat poop. It wouldn't be a rescuer hang without some 💩 talk.

I have never seen a more playful boy! It took Buggie about 10 seconds to figure out where I had stashed the toys in his room and another 10 to get his paws on all of them. And the amount of sheer delight he gets from wrestling his mice and birds and catnip toys is a joy to behold 😍😍😍

This handsome, gentle boy showed up about a week ago on a block in Bed Stuy. He was acting as if he lived on the eastern end of the block, but nobody knew him. Concerned neighbors reached out. We didn't have a place for him to stay, but he was too sweet to be outside (esp with all the rat poison around) so we worked with the neighbors to get him secured inside an alcove with food & litter. One neighbor is committed to fostering and perhaps adopting him, but can not take him till 8/12. We need a place for Buggie aka Leo to go thru the 12th! If you've ever thought about fostering, now would be a great time to step up! Please be in NYC, ideally near Central Brooklyn. If you have pets, he'll need to be kept separate from them. He will be vetted and neutered next week. Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who came out and made our 2nd adoption event at @osospetsupply so successful! We had a wonderful time and received many applications for adoption and fostering.

Couldn't make it to the event? No problem! We still have lots and lots of cats and kittens who need forever homes or foster homes. Application forms are linked in our bio.

Good people of Instagram, I try very hard to not tell lies, and I have to apologize — yesterday I told you all that Albie is not a lap cat, but as it turns out, that was a bold faced lie and for that I sincerely apologize.

Albie is, however, still looking for a foster (or adopter!) So if you want a nice snuggly sweetie for cuffing season, look no further. And please, for the love of the cat goddess, get this female floof out of my house before I keep her myself. My track record is not good and @chriscamilleri’s patience only stretches so far 🥲
