✨ TOMORROW! Join us at Kingston Gallery, December 5th from 5–8 PM, for the opening of two stunning new exhibitions you won’t want to miss.

In the main + center galleries:
Ilona Anderson — Needle Tip of Impermanence
A powerful body of work that hovers between precision and fragility, inviting you into the fleeting moments that shape how we see and remember.

And alongside it:
Sharon Kaitz — November Roses
An evocative series from a Boston artist whose work has traveled the world. Kaitz brings forward lush, layered pieces that explore beauty that persists, recedes, and blooms again.

This is one of those nights when the gallery feels electric — new work, new conversations, and our community coming together.

Stop by, bring a friend, and experience both shows up close.
See you tomorrow at Kingston.#kingstongallery #sowaboston #contemporaryart #animation #bostonevents #bostonart #sowagalleries #contemporaryartists #watercolorsketch #watercolourpainting

Now Announcing: Needle Tip of Impermanence and November Roses
Ilona Anderson & Sharon Kaitz at Kingston Gallery
December 4–28, 2025
Opening Reception: Friday, December 5, 5–8 PM

This December, Kingston Gallery brings together two powerful artistic voices exploring how moments shift, return, and take on new life.

In the Main Gallery, Ilona Anderson, a South African artist and Fulbright Scholar, presents animations and mixed-media works that weave together fragments of past paintings with photographs of shadows, rainbows, and fleeting natural light. Her pieces form poetic cycles where memory and change meet.

In the Project Space, Sharon Kaitz debuts November Roses, a vibrant series that embraces discovery and the unexpected. Kaitz’s paintings—shown internationally and reviewed in ArtNews, Art New England, and The Boston Globe—lean into painting as a process of curiosity, openness, and continual unfolding.

Join us as both artists invite us to consider what can emerge when we look closely at what shifts, and what stays with us.

On view through December 28

The Suffolk community is invited to view a new exhibit, About Scale, until November 25 at the Suffolk University Art Gallery.

This exhibition is both an invitation and a challenge to Suffolk faculty artists and designers to think about this important principle of scale that is taught to students and in their own practice. Questions that are raised and answered in the work in the exhibit: In what way do you think about scale? How do you teach ideas of scale to your students? Does it pertain to your own practice?

A special part of the exhibit will celebrate Art and Design faculty Randal Thurston, whose position as department chair will end after the Spring 2025 semester. He is invited to transform the smaller part of the gallery into one of his large signature installations (see first photo).

Suffolk Art and Design faculty participating artists are Audrey Goldstein, Ilona Anderson, Sandro Carella, Kayla Schwartz, Shelby Feltoon, Robin Hockett, Susan Nichter, Keith Kitz, Kristen Mallia, Sean Solley, Steve Novick, and Randal Thurston.

To celebrate Women's History Month, we asked some of our members about their experience in the art world. Ilona Anderson (@ilonapainter) has been a member of Kingston Gallery for over 15 years!

Ilona says that it is “...difficult to parse how much my experience is related to being a woman and how much to being a foreigner. In South Africa I was famous and everyone knew about my work. Here, it has been more difficult.”

Ilona advises other artists to lean into being yourself, trust your basic goodness, and enjoy exploring the things you desire!

Last fire pit of 2023…Old and dear friends, lots of pinecones to burn, thanks to the big storm that also took down our ancient maple tree. Rousing windhorse for the coming year. We’re going to need it!
