Fever Dream by Victor Verhelst @verhelstvictor

This unique portfolio book bundles five years of work by digital artist Victor Verhelst. Its aim is to blur the lines between printing and art. Whereas books used to be small works of art and are often considered disposable today, the designers wanted to create something that is much more than a fleeting coffee table book. A specially developed variable font moves with the content, supporting Victor Verhelst’s visual experimentation, also in terms of typography.

Using a new Fedrigoni paper and an innovative digital printing technique, an almost Pantone-worthy body of work nigh on 500 pages was created. Each copy is also unique: the back cover shows a different fragment of a monumental artwork Victor created especially for this project.

The jury on the book:
The book Fever Dream is compelling, with its extreme power and maximalist approach. The multiplicity and excess are not weaknesses, but the strength of the whole: a total experience in which the sum is more than the parts. Its elaboration is thorough and spectacular. The project exudes the joy of creating and manages to convey that feeling quite convincingly.

After winning the SABATO Young Belgian Talent Audience Award , make Victor an even more award-winning artist! Go and vote. 🙏

By @verhelstvictor: FEVER DREAM

Studio legends @corbinmahieu and Lennart van den Bossche teamed up once again to create this gem.

A special thanks to @fedrigoni.paper for making this dream come true—without them, this wouldn’t have been possible. The book is self-distributed and digitally printed in COATED FOGRA59 (for extra eye-popping colors) on the KONICA MINOLTA KM1 @albedecoke with fedrigoni’s ARENA HD. The paper quality for colorful pages is really impeccable. It features a hardcover with matte laminated protection, and the typography is set in the legendary ANTIKU font by @ilyakoers.

5 years in 496pages. A publication from the heart to thrive for more colorful aesthetics in every aspect. A dialogue in how we watch landscapes and how a landscape can change if we are constantly looking behind our phones, television screen, pc-monitors playing games, watching movies, watching reels. What's the landscape that we are really looking at? It's a Fever Dream. Couldn't open the book for more than a month because I felt my computer sweating out the heath and almost crash every time I tried to export the work for print. But still, really happy that I could make this book and do 200 copies of them. There are still 100 left. I'll never re-publish this thing. It's for those who love chaos and for those who love the quote compromise dulls the edge".
Massive thanks to everyone who already bought one, to those who contributed, and to the Jedi-masters Corbin Mahieu and Lennart Van den Bossche, who helped me stay alive through it all. Thank you @fedrigoni_benelux for the beautiful arena HD paper to try the vivid colors of coated fogra59 in combination with the images. If you want one: visit https://moriso.store . May the dull reign of beige culture tremble in the face of those who dare to embrace what the algorithm overlooks.

Aside from the solo exhibition taking place tomorrow at @plus_one_projects, we will also be releasing the publication FEVER DREAM, and I couldn't be happier with it. What started as an idea a year ago—to compile my work from the past five years into 496 pages—has now become a reality.

Studio legends @corbinmahieu and Lennart van den Bossche teamed up once again to create this gem. Only 200 copies are available—no reprints. The book presentation will be held at the gallery tomorrow, but you can already pre-order your copy (link in bio).

No words can express my gratitude and respect for everyone who worked on this project, as well as for every project I’ve ever had the privilege to be part of.
