The torte or cake is made of super dense chocolate cake topped with apricot jam and then covered in a layer of dark chocolate icing that is truly something special. Dish: Witchetty Grubs (Maku) - Some may be immediately squeamish at the thought of eating these moth larvae but throw them on the Barbie (bbq) and you’ve got yourself an excellent (and apparently pretty tasty) source of protein! The taste when cooked is described as nutty and somewhere between the flavor of chicken and shrimp. Witchetty grubs feed on the trunks and roots of gum trees and have been an essential part of the Aboriginal diet for centuries!
Pro tip for those adventurous eaters who plan to try one of these raw...make sure to not eat the head as it may still be able to bite you from the inside! 😅 @chefaz have you had these before?!
