Actor’s Diary – Chapter REVA

I had planned to begin this series chronologically — starting from my first on-screen appearance in Kevi Rite Jaish (2013).

But today feels special.

On this very day, 6th April 2018, Reva released in theatres.

So today, the diary opens with Reva.

Sometimes in life, you say yes to a film…
without knowing that the journey will gift you a character that stays with you forever.

For me, that character was Bittu-Banga.

Looking back today, I feel deeply grateful.

Grateful to the directors @rahul_bhole11 & @kanojiavinit , the producer @paresh_vora and specially @thatschetan (why? Read everything), and lastly everyone who trusted me with this character.
And even more grateful to the audience who still remember Bittu-Banga with so much love.

Some characters leave the screen…
but never leave the heart.

Found these screen grabs from a 2018 pocket of work.

REVA
This is one of the most special films in my filmography. It was my second project after Kevi Rite Jaish (2013) and before Reva (2018) , only two films in a span of five years. I may have done fewer films during that period, but I am proud of my choices.

A few projects taught me what not to do, and a few gave me the confidence to stay strong as an actor and choose future projects wisely.

There are no small roles, there are only meaningful stories. It was a beautiful journey creating something that contributed to Gujarati cinema and eventually fetching a National Award.

When Chetan called me for this project and said they were making a film based on Dhruv Bhatt’s Tatvamasi, I didn’t even ask what the role was, I immediately said yes.

Thank you @thatschetan @kanojiavinit and @rahul_bhole11
And of course, the producer of Reva @paresh_vora for making me part of Reva.

Hi Everyone!

These stills are from my very first short film, created during the pandemic. I had just joined a film school when the world came to shock due to Covid-19.
All I had during that time, was time!
I wanted to make a film but did not know how. Yet, I started.
Four months went into preparations. And the shoot Started!
On the first day, authorities intervened, despite us following all the protocols. The next day, the lead actor fell sick, and the shoot had to stop. It took me some time to recover from the stress, financial loss, and other challenges. Eventually, I had to start again from scratch, and I did.
I realized two things: 1) The shoot was complete. 2) I had been scammed by a rental service provider.
Anyway, I went back into post-production, that I didn’t know much about! I did editing, dubbing, sound design, and color correction all by myself. (took me 6 months to figure it out)
I was, Producer/Writer/Director/DP/Editor/Art/Sound Designer there.
And by the time it was over, I KNEW HOW TO MAKE A FILM!
