The first thing I did at midnight (after taking a screenshot ;) was to take a few minutes to appreciate how grateful I am to have made it to another year. There were many haunting 3ams when I thought this day may not come - not after everything that the past year had brought.

My ever-insightful ex boss @nelcharl once told me that 42 would be a “transformational” year - little did I realise what life had in store.

But how lucky I am to have had the support of family who literally nursed me back to health. @michelle_bensingh who shared my weekly health issues (the trauma we will share for life!), @vietjie and @kashennaidoo who drove me back and forth between multiple appointments every 2-3 days and encouraged me on my darkest days - and continue to do so 😅 Late night ice-cream and random drives just to get my mind settled…

From 2am support chats with @sudhag86 to the regular check ups from @lynettenaidoo @ash_beanz @thatboetieguy @supersain_ @anetapillay @esonia_the_fairy @the_adventures_of_vidal_konar @imavrao @trilochanachetty @living_with_justin_ @the_sun_king Kapil and Sunny who I can’t tag and and and …

To the nurses, physiotherapists, doctors and surgeons who did the most - for showing the most compassion and care 💓

How lucky I am that this “transformational” year came with some help, a specialist crew of angels, a few miracles and support around every corner.

I remember casually hash-tagging “blessed” without realising what that actually meant - but to be surrounded by so much favour and love has certainly “transformed” me. I enter a new age with gratitude and a vulnerability that I hope makes me less of a bastard 😂

Not sure what the next year will bring but hopefully a little less trauma and a lot more fun 😎

Thanks everyone for showing up and for getting me here💓
