“Spending my twenties in Mississippi was not something I ever planned for,” writes Baylor Pillow, a Delta native and the founder of Beep Design Consulting, an interior design studio based in Oxford, Mississippi. After attending boarding school in Tennessee, and a year of college in Georgia, Baylor found himself a little bewildered to be back in Mississippi as a student at University of Mississippi.

Ultimately, Baylor is grateful for the opportunity to come back to his home state. “I needed to be put back in Mississippi to get a reality check, to lose all of that pretense.” Now with design clients throughout the Southeast, Baylor shares how he found an entrepreneurial foothold from his home base in Oxford, and how his perspective on home has shifted over the years.

A Screaming Blast at Art By Design 📖 Spend a lively spring morning with us at this unforgettable gathering in partnership with the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art’s Decorative Arts Trust.

The morning begins with a festive book signing and light bites and refreshments. Then, settle in for a conversation with Rebecca Gardner, founder and creative director of Houses & Parties, the New York and Savannah-based events, interiors, and retail collective known for unabashed style, wit, and whimsy.

Each ticket includes a copy of Rebecca’s exuberant coffee table book, "A Screaming Blast: Exceptional Entertaining," which invites readers inside spectacular celebrations brimming with bold ideas and irresistible details.

Following the presentation, guests are invited to explore the immersive Art by Design Showroom, where art, interiors, and imagination collide and where every vignette tells a story.

Tables are sold out, but individual tickets are now on sale.

The entire reason for this trip was to meet my sweet Delta buddies, Kim Pillow and her son, Baylor, at McCarty’s in Merigold for lunch and a tour of the grounds. I was born and raised in MS and had never gone! 😳 They introduced me to Jamie Smith, the McCarty potter! 💙 Of course the gallery is amazing, but you’re missing out if you don’t explore the gardens out back. One leads into another with koi ponds, old growth trees and canopies, and a cat snoozing in the dappled light under a tree. Beautiful day! 💙💙💙
