🗣 Habari gani?! For every day of Kwanzaa, you greet folks with this phrase. In Swahili, it translates to what’s the news. For us, it’s a way to say wassup, what’s good, what day it is cuz? 😂 And the person you’re talking to responds with the principle of the day, plus Habari Gani again. So let’s try it! Me: Habari Gani?! You: Umoja, Habari Gani!! Got it?! Today is the very first day of Kwanzaa. TODAY IS THE VERY FIRST DAY OF KWANZAA! Lol, we excited over here! 🎉 Today’s principle is Umoja! Umoja means Unity. ✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿🖤 We gotta link up to get things started, right? We have to be joined in a unified, although mostly virtual these days, front to get things cracking so it’s only right that the first principle be about us joining together! There’s beauty in Unity ❤️🖤💚 The official definition for the day is - To strive for and maintain unity in the family, community, nation, and race. (www.officalkwanzaawebsite.org) And now that we’re all on one accord, we want to officially welcome you to SUPER KWANZAA 2020!! We are happy you’re here! We’ll be blessing our Kwanzaa with a video post at 6 PM CST. On @supergroupchi And then join our live @ 6:30 to hear about all the wonderful things we have planned for you! In the meantime - checkout our schedule! SuperGroup is so happy to be here! Our official Kwanzaa 2020 photo was taken by world renowned photographer @aoctaviusw. And we are all gathered in front of the flag “Bandana Bandera” made in 2016 by me! Also s/o to another heavily credited photographer @nolis, who is part owner of this studio space @southfacingwindows ✨ We have some heavy hitters who’ve added some of their love into our Kwanzaa week and we are so thankful to be surrounded by such amazing and genuine Black talent. Sit back and relax yall, SuperGroup is coming through with the Kwanzaa heat! We love yall, and we will see you for our libation (our prayer for the week) at 6 PM! #kwanzaa #Kwanzaa2020 #KwanzaaChicago2020 #kwanzaaChicago #SupergroupChi #SuperKwanzaa2020 #blackandproud #rbg

We are BLACK WOMEN!..... We too have a VOICE ......We don’t tear down other BLACK WOMEN!..... we have felt the pain of NOT BEING HEARD and we decided we will be deliberate about building others! If I didn’t tag you, please don’t be offended. I tried to pick people I thought would do this challenge!! all too often, we women find it easier to criticize each other, instead of building each other up. With all this negativity going around let’s do something positive!!🌟 Upload 1 picture of yourself.... ONLY you. then tag as many sisters to do the same. Let’s build ourselves up, instead of tearing ourselves down. 💛💛 ASK FOR THE WORDS THEN COPY AND PASTE 💛💛 If I tagged you, don’t disappoint me!!!

Kwanzaa 2017 (Dec 26 - Jan 1st ) damn man, I really hate to be the black man talking about kwanzaa on xmas eve lol but somebody gotta do it. contrary to popular belief Kwanzaa isn’t a black alternative to Xmas (currently sippin on egg nog and listening to James Brown “Santa Claus go straight to the ghetto” as I type). Kwanzaa ain’t political, or religious. It’s cultural, and it’s a 7 day celebration that’s centered around 7 core values (unity, self determination, collective work & responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith). me and some of my friends (@supergroupchi) along with other orgs have been holding down the Kwanzaa tradition for the city for a few years now with different events and shit... pull up w your cousins, aunties, nephews & nieces, ya new boo, etc...if u got some time next week, that’s all :) Happy holidays and love yours ❤️. You got questions , Lmk. also, RIP my nigga @aji_be_enit , first Kwanzaa without you g and we REALLY missing you baby boy!!!!!! love you foo, 🤧🙏🏿
