Not all legendary link ups are created equal!

It’s like the easiest thing in the world to be a huge Rapsody fan if incomparable talent is your bar. It’s somehow easier once you meet her to appreciate a genuineness of spirit that’s regrettably rare but capable of elevating a brief encounter to an unforgettable experience.

Vibes don’t lie and Rap is living proof that God got an afro.

the music industry didn’t pause itself.

two women decided it needed to. and it listened.

jamila thomas spent 15+ years building campaigns for drake, nicki minaj, jhené aiko, city girls, pusha t — the kind of résumé most executives spend a whole career chasing.

then in 2020 she co-founded #theshowmustbepaused alongside brianna agyemang and made the entire industry stop operations on june 2nd to reckon with how it had profited from Black art while failing Black people.

billboard named her executive of the year the same year.

that’s not a campaign. that’s conviction.

Purpose driven life. Thank you @billboard @billboardhiphop for the recognition. Extremely honored & appreciative to be considered a R&B // Hip Hop Power Player.

Even in some recent sad & dark times 🚀🕊, I don’t take the ability to work in music, to impact culture and build with dope creatives for granted. Congrats to my @motownrecords and @qualitycontrolmusic family as well as all my peers included in this list. 🙏🏾❤️
