Can you feel it? The energy is high and competition has never been more fun. We noticed the calendar looked a bit bare and wanted to make sure @gaweightlifting had all the meets needed to qualify our lifters for national meets or start beginners! So we’re teaming up with our friends @southgeorgiabarbell to put two new local meets out this year and beyond.

We’re bringing a fun summer meet to the calendar that will become a staple with Iron Born and Allsouth Open. The Summer Slam is another @usa_weightlifting sanctioned meet open to all experience levels. Medals awarded to all weight classes and age divisions.

You can find registration link in our bio!

We’ll be competing in all the spring and summer meets listed below and hope you’ll join us!

@southgeorgiabarbell Spring Clean - April 18th - Moultrie Ga
@williamsweightlifting Barbell MAYnia - May 9th - Buford Ga
@allsouthbarbell Summer Slam - June 6th - Norcross Ga
@allsouthbarbell Allsouth Open - August 15-16th - Norcross

Remote athlete @imkbev getting back into shape. About 4 weeks back into training and his tempo and rhythm are back quickly! Looking forward to seeing him continue to progress back toward the platform in time.

We have space available! Fill out the remote inquiry in our bio, and coaches will be in touch with you. Or DM to come join the gym and train with us if you are local!

🎙️E14- Kyle Beverly🎙️

Had my first ever guest on a Wednesday and it was so much fun. My friend KBev dropped by at the gym on his way down to Florida to chat about lifting and life. Even talked about some video games and just had a great time.

@imkbev started our second day of team lifting in Vegas. Kyle’s first trip to U25. The fun thing about Kyle is when he first started lifting with us in May 2019, he really didn’t have much experience with the lifts. So we have seen him develop almost completely from nothing to where he is now.

He put together a very strong performance snatching a meet pr at 110, before narrowly missing a 114 attempt behind. Coming out heavier than he has before in Clean and jerk crushing 142, for a meet pr and a pr clean and jerk at 146. Taking down a pr total at 256. Closing the session with another pr attempt at 150kg narrowly missing the jerk but a pr clean none the less. Good to see Kyle pushing bigger lifts on the platform and he’s already talking about more! Back to training this week as we prep for late summer and fall meets! Great work Kyle!

Back from another great team trip. Nationals week in Vegas was a success on multiple levels for our team.

We had 6 of our competitors step on the national platform. 1 for the first time. Successfully completed 67% of our lifts as a team. 1 U25 National Champion, 1 Senior Bronze medalist, 2 top 20 finishers in u25 81/89, 1 top 10 in u25 109, 1 top 10 senior in 71kg, and a metric ton of PRs and pr attempts.

Outside of lifting our team stepped in to support the meet as TO’s as referees, speakers, and Marshall’s during youth nationals, then loaded platforms every session from Monday 8am - Sunday 2pm, sometime covering multiple platforms. Giving back to the sport we love while getting the best seat in the house! Couple of things to not from the loading. Coaches! If you want to get better at meet coaching and reading the board. Go load. During this week our lead loaders we’re able to teach others including some of our extending family youth how to read the board to see what’s coming. An invaluable tool not only for loading quickly to keep the meet moving but for meet coaching and making changes to help an athlete during competition. Step up and become a better coach or athlete through service!

Lastly, on the topic of the new meet setup we experienced. It wasn’t a big deal. Coaches had some extra freedom on the FOP and it created alittle more buzz I believe with everyone able to see. Also helped the marshals tables not be so crowded. Overall, not a terrible idea. I’m sure @usa_weightlifting took some notes and will make it even better moving forward. While we can be resistant to change as a sport. This change in the long run may be better once all wrinkles are ironed out!

Thanks @usa_weightlifting for a great Nationals week! We had a blast. See all of you in Atlanta in December.
