POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

⁉️ How do we come up with a real response to what is really happening?

When we stay in the grip of short-term thinking, it becomes impossible to tell a story of how we're going to make it through towards the safer, healthier, more natural future so many of us are longing for -- and which would be a truly compelling political agenda.

We detail this in our latest report, Climate Popularism, co-authored by @rupertread and @carolinelucasbrighton Lucas. Over 200 people joined us last Thursday for its public launch, facilitated by @thecitizensguy

Notebook Reflections on a Trip to Arles:
- Design for uncertainty (loose fit architecture)
- Process Design: Effort & Care
- Everyone understands and knows that things need to change
- Design: What * Tender: How much * Construction: How
- The usual logic is toxic and built in is conflict (why it can feel so tough)
- Every place on the planet has building traditions and locally they make sense
- What we can do with simple materials
- Finding the good earth
- People as infrastructure
- Allows you to do the impossible
- The building is not an island
- If the noses are facing in the same direction
- If everyone believes it is possible

Amazing trip - Le Magasin Electrique - LUMA Atelier - Paoli - rammed earth and bio regional materials offering possibilities - huge thank you to the @civic_square Team for always creating such generous shared learning spaces. Many experiences and chats shared with this brilliant group of people. @peopledemcollective @wecanmakehomes @sabinezetteler @houseofannetta @darkmatter_labs @wessexcommunityassets and many more 🌞

Episode 120 ~ Time for another ramble in the wood.

Recorded a week ago beneath an ancient Hawthorn at Ghostwood Down.

I’m sitting with a lot of grief at the moment, so this was a spontaneous ramble from the heart.

Riffing on:

The sacred Hawthorn tree

On sitting with grief, loss, endings and death, the inner and outer.

On the heart space and heart intelligence.

On speaking more openly and honestly to the collapse of the systems, structures, stories and ways of modernity

And asking what might emerge from that ?

On imagining a UBI to support weavers of regenerative futures.

On music, raves, dancing and connection.

Featuring readings, shout outs and notices from:

A majority of people want more action on climate ... but life gets in the way, jobs need to he found, bills have got to get paid. So what kind of climate action can make us safer, more connected, and address the cost of living crisis?

What kind of action for and with nature could bring us closer together instead of farther apart?

This is what we tackle in our latest report, co-authored by @rupertread and @carolinelucasbrighton with a forward by community leader @civic_square @immykaur

Thank you also to @labourlewis for your endorsement as well as @thecitizensguy and several others

Come join the conversation on October 15!

Join us in November for our Sugar Summit: a series of hands-on learning workshops working with London bagasse. It asks what “local” really means in a city built on wealth extracted from other people and their landscapes. watch this space for dates and how to participate 🌱🛘🏗️

Anna and Rebecca have had a brilliant day at the amazing @tippingpointeast for the @nationalretrofithub Retrofit Obviously Summit - Hearing about retrofit work from across the country, discussing the challenges for communities, local and national government and industry. A rich day full of questions but also plenty of ideas and hope. We were pleased to share the work we are doing in our neighbourhood and to catch up with friends and colleagues.

Three days of conversations, experiments, encounters and making left us with more than ideas about the future. They revealed something about how we need to approach it in the present. We’re distilling some of the signals that stayed with us into a series of Future Days 26 insights. Not predictions, but observations about what’s changing now, and what that might ask of us.

First up: Proximity as power 📍 with @iimmykaur.

What can we see, understand and change when we start somewhere real?

On reflection, @civic_square - a huge thank you for hosting a crucial weekender last month focusing literally on our survival, not only as a planet, but as a community and as individuals.
The heat, drought sunshine we experienced this year, might feel like a distant memory given the change in weather now but, sounded an alarm for us to consider not only how we sow crops to eat, but also how we maintain them to get them to our tables with potentially less water in coming years.
We learned a lot, made great connections and thank you @immykaur and @blackrootz__ for being passionate trail visionaries, that set a standard of resilience for us to follow.
We look forward to more conversations, more challenges and more success stories as we embed ourselves in the grassroots of community and sow seeds of change.
Thank you ✌🏾#community #gentleactivism #seedsofchange #reparations #water
