Oxford Summer School diaries 💫✨

A whole week being fully immersed in astrology at @exetercollegeox surrounded by curious, passionate people who share such a deep love for the language of the stars was truly magical 💖

There were many lectures, of course, big part of what made this experience so special was that everything that the @facultyastro designed was around the astrological transits and eclipses: the classes, the dates, even the rhythm of the week.

But also so many conversations over breakfast and dinner and most times, the people you happened to sit beside and the friendships that began almost by accident, like a spark ✨

I arrived on my own and left feeling part of a beautiful community. I came home with a lot of new knowledge, new ideas, lots of inspiration, beautiful memories and people I now feel deeply connected to, not only through astrology, but through pure resonance of the soul.

A Piscean dream that slowly took shape over three years of my Saturn return and somehow came true in the most wonderfully Piscean way🌙✨

One of my favourite things about life is discovering the places, ideas and people that make our worlds a little bigger ✨

If you’re into astrology, creativity, meaningful conversations, little adventures and following your curiosity wherever it takes you, come hang out with me 🤍

There’s always something new to discover around here 🦋

With love,
Jacquie 🤍✨

Eight days to find out if I could love New York

By day five, I’ll realize the idea of decompressing in Manhattan was setting myself up for disappointment. I’ll get past that idea, and then be fine

When you come to understand the ten mile days stomping around dirty streets and subways

Narrow bodegas for a quick drink and jam packed bars and chains for a treat

The too many girls with eating disorders or near it

And the blunt men who cat call you in your wedges and legs… you kind of appreciate the attention

Then you’ll start to see what this city is about

The chaos and mugginess, sweat dripping, cat-called-legs sticking to subway seats, and your hungry empty stomach because people here don’t eat

Starts to make sense, in a masochistic why tf would anyone ever pay so much to live like this, oh I get it, satisfaction through suffering kind of way

The essence of life, kind of way

Socialism back in fashion, and peak fashion all around me (save the basic white girls, but, even they have their charm)

Mamdani’s New York, Knicks in 5, World Cup, all around me

Really poor people, really rich people, tourist people, sports people, all colors of people, all around me

And in the distance, back home, that quiet biome

As crashing city sounds and consumption fill my ears and leave them ringing bc I have tinnitus through the nights

Where I knock out from exhaustion and satisfaction and all the stimulation

And wake up in the morning to cousin and brother and his boyfriend, and repeat

I see why people make it work here, I see the reward you get out of fighting through a day in this city. New York gives you direction. Where, in the suburbs I have to make so much of it on my own

Eight days, after I legitimately thought I hated New York, I get it

Building on my 2015 installation #CharacterIsFate - for which I presented #PietMondrian’s historical birth chart at @kunstinstituutmelly - ‘Piet Mondrian’s Death Chart’ turned to the time and place of his death on February 1, 1944. Developed for @performanyc a newly drawn astrological chart mapping the stars and planets at the moment of Mondrian’s passing formed the focus of three walks on Saturday, 22 November 2025. At the former Murray Hill Hospital, 30 East 40th Street, astrologer and art critic @imoscarwilde introduced the chart. The walk then continued to Uncle Charlie’s Piano Lounge, where @whonny_jang_piano performed Boogie Woogie–inspired scores celebrating Mondrian’s life and legacy.

Love to @defneayas___ (our journey began at Melly in 2015!), @dddyylaannn and all colleagues at Performa and @extraextramagazine for the great collab. Special thanks to @gwynne.mayer for producing the chart and @lucia_elena_prusa for designing it.

Piet Mondrian was born in Amersfoort on March 7, 1872. After studying in Amsterdam, he moved to Paris in 1911. Before leaving, astrologer Adriaan van de Vijzel drew his horoscope with a written interpretation titled ‘Character is Fate’.
In 1940, fleeing Nazi persecution to the USA, the booklet was among the few possessions Mondrian carried with him. In New York, Mondrian—who loved to dance—became inspired by Manhattan’s nightlife and titled his final, unfinished painting #VictoryBoogieWoogie.

A death chart is drawn for the exact moment of a person’s passing and can be used to gain insight into that moment of transition. When read alongside a birth chart, it may offer perspectives on a person’s life; on its own, it can illuminate the time that lies ahead at the moment of dying—the next phase in a soul’s evolution.
