Climbed to the top of the highest Mayan temple at Altun Ha for some incredible views. 🏞️👆

Altun Ha was a significant ancient Maya ceremonial center known for the discovery of the Jade Head, one of Belize’s national treasures, a nearly 10-pound jade carving of the Sun God, Kinich Ahau, found in a tomb at the Temple of the Masonry Altar.

Exposure starts with a “first”. 🤿⛵️🐬

First time on a sailboat, first time snorkeling, first time seeing what’s beneath the ocean’s surface; an all around day of “firsts” for Inspiring Minds and our young people!

We conquered fears, stepped outside of our comfort zones, and saw dolphins, sting rays, manatees, and so much more. Thank you @xsitebelizesailing for an unforgettable day sailing and snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef.

Day 2 - Garifuna Culture🪘💛

The Garifuna people are a vibrant Afro-indigenous community known for their unique heritage, language, and drumming. They are descendants of West Africa and Saint Vincent.

We spent the day learning about their traditions, preparing a meal side by side, drumming, dancing, and hearing stories that have been passed down for generations. These are the experiences that remind our students learning happens far beyond the classroom. 🌍✨

We spent our first day in Belize giving back. A new exposure trip tradition? 🌴🫶

It was our honor to help Mr. Ben, a local tour operator who was bedridden and unable to take care of his family for months after an accident, clean up his property.

His family welcomed us with open arms, introducing us to their Mayan culture, taking us on a hike through the jungle, and sharing a meal together. It was a beautiful reminder of the layers of impact these exposure trips can have. 💙

July Gratitude Focus: Our Team. The Fuel. 💙👏

This month, we’re showing gratitude for our staff and board, OUR TEAM. They’re either the first ones in the door or the last ones to leave, usually both. They’re the educators, mentors, problem-solvers, and behind-the-scenes champions who make it all happen.

Thank you for believing in our students, living our mission, and showing up with passion each day. We are incredibly grateful for all that you do. 🫶

The work isn’t always easy, but know you’re making an IMpact every single day. Because of you, lives are being changed, futures are being shaped, and dreams are becoming reality.

Now let’s finish this last week of #IMsummer strong! 💪☀️
