It’s beginning to look, if not feel, like Autumn. I’ve swapped out some pictures and added some new that give off the seasonal vibes that come with these first two ‘ber months.

I love hanging out in our living room with a good book or watching something mysterious on tv surrounded by Autumnal colors and moody lighting.

Have you put out your Fall decor?

❝ But in the end it is only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. ❞
- JRR Tolkien, The Two Towers
.
We had a little bit of a down day in our house on the weekend. For no real reason. Maybe the weather, maybe we’re over tired, maybe the incessant darkness of winter that’s already creeping up on us. But it doesn’t matter - because that’s okay.
.
We receive so much advice on how to be happier, less stressed, less sad, less anxious, less angry. As though these emotions are somehow lesser. Wrong. Bad. But these are HUMAN. Sometimes, anxiety helps us perform. Anger stimulates change. Sadness helps us be empathetic.
.
While it’s never good to be drowning in negativity (hard these days), sometimes to allow negative external forces (cold rain, world tragedies, a sick pet) to affect us is what makes us human. As long as you remember that the sun shines too, I think you’re doing just fine.

Currently reading✨

I’m currently reading Paladin’s Strength by T. Kingfisher. I started it straight after I had finished Paladin’s Grace, but felt that I needed a break from fantasy so paused it for a bit 🙈

But now I’ve picked it up again and I’m really enjoying it! I don’t like it as much as the first one, but that is mainly because I preferred the characters in the first book 😅. I love how these books just feel so ✨fantasy✨. The world feels like home somehow 😊.

(And of course I had to match the book with my Geralt bookmark from @in.the.reads + and who remembers Toss a coin to your Witcher? 😉)

How do you feel about cozy fantasy? Yay or Nay?

-Cooler weather??? My mind is going to fall, and am currently reading “The Fellowship of The Ring” along with Andy Serkis’s audiobook. He is so dang talented, and am only 20% of the way through, and it’s so enthralling. I also love this bookmark from @in.the.reads and have one of the shire map!

Happy Friday, bookworms!
.
.
.
Currently reading three series, The Plated Prisoner, I'm on the third book. The other series is Blood And Ash and Flesh and Fire. This series is supposed to be read by publication order. I'm on the fourth book for the Blood And Ash, and once I finish it, I will jump back to the Flesh and Fire book two.
.
.
I am reading other books in between to help me not go into a reading slump 😆 I'm currently still waiting for my pre-order, The Buffalo Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones. This will be my weekend read.

What will you be reading this weekend?

I’m moving next week and started the daunting task of packing up my home for the last year and a half. I despise the moving process but I’m so excited to be moving back to my home state 🐊
and always excited to decorate a new space✨
