a few months ago @chelseaholden and @ryanjones approached me wondering if I’d write a poem in response to their @in_ari exhibition ‘Approach’ - of course I said yes.

here is the full poem amongst stills from Ryan’s video work and photos of Chelsea’s onsite installation

thank you both for your trust

I love her.
First and foremost,
I really love her.
I feel very, like,
affectionate towards her.
She came out
of nowhere
really quickly,
actually.

I built her in my lounge room.

In another way,
she came
from this really sticky
place of….
potentially
this internet era
of censoring
yourself or bringing yourself
back in anticipation of being viewed
and this
pre-emptive
reduction
that can happen.

There’s also very real things,
like getting calls on your personal phone
with warnings from
Council bodies about,
you know,
doing fundraisers
for Palestinian children
and all that kind
of stuff
you know, like,
there’s some very real
things that are, like…

And I think
there’s something interesting in,
like, the moment
before you find
the words for something.
like that precipice

And it’s
quite a potential space.
there’s so much that’s
available
and possible there.

and it’s a fertile place
and it’s a violent place.

and, like,
whether or not
you can get
the words out
or whether they translate
is really interesting
but that
edge point
that landing point
yeah
there’s a lot there

There’s a lot there.

Wanting to get
Words right as well

And that being a
very beautiful instinct and
also, like,
an incomplete instinct.
that can’t be enough.
there
has to be another
‘want’ more than that

There’s an amazing Anne Carson poem about
‘I Should Learn
More About Signs.’
In there,
there’s this mention of
this egg.
there’s this perfect form

And we’ve
been talking
a lot about, like,
these conditions of fascism
that we
find we’ve contributed to
or endured
or whatever.

But
yeah
again, just,
like finding
the right words is
a bit like an
egg,
you know,
like this moment of,
like,
these
perfect conditions
where something might happen.

Yeah,

States
of becoming are
very interesting to me.

A mix of 120mm photos I took for @sofarsunshinecoast and also @in_ari . Two different businesses but similar core values; For creatives, for community and run by woman 😎🤟🏽 @rubybridgetdonohoe for IN ARI and @merygagliostro for Sofar Sounds.

Also two photos of @feria_rewear ; crazy but also creative and run by @joyserebrisky ✌🏽💖

I’m incredibly lucky to work alongside tremendous projects. I truly love to document these moments.

Also I added a photo of my dear Fer Penso, who’s also a creative; an artist, mom of two and business owner, a superhero over all.

It feels a bit revolutionary what can I say ….

💖✌🏽 hope you have a good day ✨ thanks for being on that side.
