The IWW is here for you.

From its founding in 1905, the IWW holds the historical distinction of being the first major union to explicitly and universally reject all gender and racial barriers.

There is no dividing workers by trade or occupation. Change careers, keep your union. Built by and for workers. All gig, temp and freelance workers belong.

Continuous skills-sharing workshops, Know Your Rights, Workplace Mapping and Union Rep Trainings. Essentials for your community and across the International Solidarity Network.

Most importantly, we believe: An Injury To One Is An Injury To All. Whenever working communities are under attack, we stand up and fight back.

Together, we will form the structure of a new society within the shell of the old.

With love, mutual aid, community and solidarity foever.

👕 FreeAbdus shirt of the day: INCARCERATED LIVES MATTER.

Our loved ones are people—not labels like “inmate” or “felon.” They are parents, partners, children, and friends whose humanity does not disappear behind prison walls.

@incarceratedworkers @incarcerated_lives_matter_va @incarcerated_lives_matter_ent @incarceratedlivesmatter focuses on people during incarceration and their return to society. @wickedlyjudged uses advocacy and podcasting to expose wrongful convictions and amplify the voices of those impacted. Its founder’s mission grew from her husband and best friend’s wrongful conviction and nearly 20 years of incarceration. @leapaction the Law Enforcement Accountability Project—supports activists working to change the narrative around police abuse of Black people.

These missions connect to why I fight for Isma’il. When our loved ones are in state or federal custody, their care matters. They deserve healthcare, safety, family connections, and opportunities to grow. They should return to us healthy, supported, and prepared to participate in family and community life.

Accountability includes how people are treated in custody and what support awaits them at home.

A prison in Missouri has no air conditioning in any housing unit. Last summer, geospatial scientist and AoC fellow Dr. Ufuoma Ovienmhada walked inside it as part of a legal team building a case that the heat there is unconstitutional.

She had been studying prisons like this one from space for years. Nothing prepared her for the vent in solitary confinement that barely moved air, or the cell walls reading 86°F before noon.

Her satellite data gave the case its scientific basis. A physician gave it medical weight. Lawyers forced open a door officials didn't want opened. And the men living there gave the case something none of the rest of the team could.

Ufuoma wrote the full account of that day for Agents of Change. Link in bio 🔗

When climate disasters hit, incarcerated people are often left behind with nowhere to go.

I co-founded The Toxic Prisons Mapping Project with @fighttoxicprisons to map real time environmental hazards (heat, hurricanes, wildfires, etc.) affecting carceral facilities.

Here is how community organizers have and are using it to support our incarcerated community members

1️⃣ Triaging: Overlay real-time hazard data to see exactly which facilities are at risk

2️⃣ Rapid Advocacy: Grab facility phone numbers and addresses for calling campaigns to get wardens to make protective moves before disaster strikes.

3️⃣ Analysis: Explore time-series data to understand historical exposure

90 years ago today, the anarchists (organized into the CNT union), socialists (organized into the UGT union), communists (organized into the POUM) and other radicals and labor unionists of Spain responded to an attempted fascist military coup by initiating a long-awaited social revolution. For several months, life in much of Spain was socialized in a way that puts “social democracy” to shame. Factories and apartments were seized by workers, and social equality arose from below.

Although this revolution had excesses, notably the murders of priests and fascists POWs, this was mob violence that took place in the context of a war where the fascists were systematic in their use of mass execution and r-pe as terror tactics, and in which Catholic priests in Seville had given the fascists names of radicals to murder after the coup succeeded there. This aspect of the revolution is not something that should be hidden or excused.

After making “pragmatic compromises” that involved keeping the state in place, the war and the revolution were lost to the fascists, led by General Franco, who was financed by US oil oligarchs and armed by Nazi Germany. The moderate socialist government tried to appease the colonial powers to receive aid from them, but none came. Only Mexico, fresh off the heels of its own social revolution, send arms to the republic unconditionally. The USSR sent tanks and planes, but with conditions that ultimately meant the undoing of the social revolution.

Yet as long as exploitation lives on, so will resistance. Guerrilla fighters like Quico and Pepe Sabaté continued through the 40s, and partial general strikes still took place in Barcelona under Franco’s rule. In 1973, partisans blew the car of Franco’s pet Prime Minister so high into the air that it is still referred to today as the “Spanish space program.”

After the return of liberal democracy following Franco’s death, the CNT came up from underground. Although it has had two major splits since, one into the more pragmatic CGT, then again between the CNT-AIT and the CNT-CIT, it exists and scores wins for workers to this day as a sister union to the IWW and several others like it around the world.

ICSolutions a surveillance company owned by Keefe Group is used by over 230+ prisons out of the 1,664 the U.S. owned and operated sites of torture and neglect. Used by the BOP, many local jails, and 6 statewide prison systems including Illinois. It casts a wide range of nets, grouping people together in an infinite growing web of surveillance, and info currency. This info is kept in 2 data centers. ICSolutions primary data center is in Atlanta, GA while the secondary data center resides in San Antonio, TX. The goal is to build a heavily fueled prison rooted consciousness, that allows for more surveillance model growth into societal structure. Causing basic information to become evidence that can be owned forever in data centers turned biometric prisons.
THE ENFORCER
The Inmate Detail Screen Shows each incarcerated persons Personal Allowed/Blocked Numbers (PAN) list, their disciplinary rules, and call activity. The Pan list identifies each person by name, address, and relation to an incarcerated person. PAN history is also available for scrutiny.
The 3 Way Call Detection picks up when 3 way calls are dialed on the phone, and alerts staff for an investigation, and/or to end the call. Sometimes a disciplinary action can be taken against the incarcerated person, taking away their phone access. The ENFORCER builds 3 way call lists, and has a top 25 list for 3 way call lists for investigation.
The Observer’s Call station list shows what phone and/or tablet the call is being made from. The call recording screen allows the users to rewind the recording as it is still being recorded. Alert editing screen can enter specific numbers to cause investigative actions. By clicking on the REVERSE LOOK UPthe user can see the latest photo of the address and satellite image of the address on file.
The Analyzer maps and builds links between callers and call receivers, webbing them all together. A number will show its owners name, and who else has talked on that line, linking them to everyone who called it. And an individual caller shows links to everyone they called, branching them all together, with color codes identifying people of interest.

Cynthia Scott is a 58-year-old Black/New Afrikan woman currently imprisoned at the Fluvanna Correctional Center for women in Virginia. Over the last few years of her imprisonment, Cynthia's health has dramatically declined due to intentional medical neglect by a carceral system that prioritizes saving money over saving human lives.

This led her and other women at FCCW experiencing the same medical neglect to file a class action lawsuit against the prison and the Virginia Department of Corrections. Cynthia was the lead plaintiff in the lawsuit Scott v. Clarke. Though the settlement of the lawsuit was meant to improve access to medical care, medical neglect at FCCW persists.

As a result, Cynthia's health has declined even further and to such an extent that she has sent funeral arrangements to her daughter. This is blatant state-sanctioned murder under the guise of the "color of law." We ask that you support Cynthia by doing the following:

-- Sign and share Cynthia's freedom petition at https://linktr.ee/IWCSP to help her win early release via parole and/or clemency.

-- Email the Governor at abigail.spanberger@governor.virginia.gov asking her to grant Cynthia's request for a conditional medical pardon. You can begin your letter stating, "Dear Governor Spanberger: My name is ______ and I support Cynthia Scott's request for a conditional pardon. I believe she is rehabilitated and that she deserves to be released early because _____." Please write whatever pours from your heart at this point. Also, please add "Cynthia Scott No. 1099763" in the subject line and blind copy the IWCSP at contact.iwcsp@gmail.com;

-- Lastly, write words of support to Cynthia at the following address (please keep your letters to a maximum of two pages front and back):

Cynthia Scott No. 1099736
Fluvanna Correctional Center
P.O. Box 1000
Troy, Virginia 22974

Thank you in advance for your care and support:
