Dylan Katz: 61.5°N September 14 – 22, 1am - 7pm Vernissage: Tuesday, September 17, from 6pm to 10pm
Olivolo, San Piero di Castello 65/A – 59/C, 30122 Venice, Italy
"61.5°N" marks the first solo exhibition of artist Dylan Katz, inaugurated on September 14 during the eighth edition of The Venice Glass Week. The exhibition showcases two main series of works: "Uncanny Ice" and "Northern Windows".

"Uncanny Ice", Katz’s iconic collection of sculptures inspired by Finland’s ice formations, returns for the third time to The Venice Glass Week. It was previously exhibited in 2022 at the main hub of The Venice Glass Week at Palazzo Loredan and in 2023 as part of the group show "The Ice Furnace", curated by Costanza Longanesi Cattani.

The new series of works, "Northern Windows", debuts with an unpublished collection created specifically for this edition of the Venice Glass Week in 2024. These works pay homage to the vivid colors and ethereal lights of the Nordic sky, reflecting Katz's deep connection to the landscapes of Finland, where his studio is based. @theveniceglassweek Artist: Dylan Katz @uncanny_ice, @katztudio

The fascination of glass lies in its complexity, beyond its fragility and sensitivity to temperature, it's the color. Color tests are a crucial phase in the study of glass art. They are conducted on a reduced scale through small samples that "sleep" overnight to reveal their true colors the next day. On the other hand, small pieces are rapidly cooled to quickly assess their color, but in doing so, they are destined to shatter and be lost… @signorettolampadari @theveniceglassweek

@incurata
