Happy Tuesday! Let’s kick the day off with a property that is currently breaking the internet… and with good reason too! We are completely enamored with @heidicaillierdesign work in general, but this mountain home she designed for @kendalljenner is so extraordinary. It manages to retain the charm of a traditional mountain home, yet you can feel so many boundaries being pushed in the most beautiful ways. The use of color, and pattern, juxtaposed by textured reclaimed timber creates such a beautiful design marriage. It’s moody yet inviting and livable. It nods to English design style, yet also feels like pure Americana. To put it simply… it’s completely brilliant in our opinion. How do you feel about it?

Here’s a little peak behind the process of Pay In 30 Days, some side by side comparisons of my storyboards with the final result. 🙌

I always draw boards before we shoot a frame, because it lets me edit the film in my head first, map the rhythm and find of the spine of every scene before I step on set.

This short was a huge team effort and seeing these crude little sketches come to life is one of the best things about film making.

PAY IN 30 DAYS is my love letter to every freelancer who’s stared at an unpaid invoice and counted how many days it’s overdue, to all the worn out angels who have sent polite chaser emails into the void, and to every overworked and underpaid creative that has had to dip into their overdraft because the bills don’t wait even if the payments are delayed. And to the corporations who treat NET 30 like a work of speculative fiction, yeah, this film might just be about you.

Every single freelancer I know has faced the same struggle. I know people that have sued, won and still haven’t gotten theirs. The law doesn’t work for the people, it feels the wild west out there and this film asks, If they’re not going to play by the rules, then why should we?
And as Brad Pitt’s character in Andrew Dominik’s Killing Them Softly said... “It’s not a country, it’s a business. Now fucking pay me.”

So just wanted to say a huge thank you to the BFI for hosting our screening last week, to the wizards @envypost and our amazing cast and crew, who gave this ridiculous, relatable late payment revenge fantasy its claws.

THE TRAILER FOR BABUSHKA! - link in my bio 👈

This one has been a long time coming. It’s a 27-minute proof-of-concept that we want to make into the next big horrorverse. It’s taken three long gruelling years to make this movie, and is the result of so much hard work from many talented people in the USA, UK, Budapest, and Australia.

We went big with this production. Our score was performed by a real live orchestra and the film stars the incredible Hayley McFarland (The Conjuring and Lie To Me). I think we made a movie that punches way above its weight, and more importantly, I believe we’ve made a horror movie that will speak to audiences on a deeper emotional level.

Initial feedback has been phenomenal, and we’re so excited to show people and find the right team to move forward with in making BABUSHKA into a feature-length movie. It would mean the world if you could share our trailer, and LIKE and comment on YouTube if you fancy it!
