Your jumper's knee isn't healing — and it's not your reps, your rest, or your exercises. It's something almost nobody trains for. 👇

When we strengthen tendons, we obsess over how MUCH — load, reps, tempo. We almost never ask which DIRECTION we're loading. And that matters: a tendon adapts specifically to the line you pull on it.

Every rehab staple — decline squats, leg extensions, Spanish squats — pulls in basically one line: straight up and down. So we build the tendon in that one direction and leave every other direction underprepared.

But you don't get hurt going up and down. You get hurt cutting, planting, decelerating on an angle. The tendon gets loaded sideways in sport — and almost no program trains it that way.

So add the missing direction:
🔹 Landmine lateral squat — shoulder into plate, 45–60°
🔹 30s isometric hold at the edge of pain (quiets pain so you can load — Rio et al., 2015)
🔹 Slow lower, 3–5s, same angle (drives the rebuild)
🔹 Stay ≤ 2/10 pain. Always.

Honest note: the mechanism — that tendons adapt to the direction of load — is well-supported. This specific drill isn't backed by a head-to-head trial yet. It's mechanistically sound clinical experience, not a proven protocol. Smarter loading, not a miracle.
Not medical advice. Work in your pain-free range and with your clinician. 🏀
