Rains in My City 🌧️

Early mornings when Pune is still waking up, the streets are quieter, and the rain has washed away some of the usual hurry.

I think it’s the petrichor that draws me out in the first place. But once I’m walking, it’s everything else that makes me stay.

I’ve lived with these streets for years, yet the monsoon always gives me another reason to wander through them.

The rains don’t really change the places I know. They simply remind me why I fell in love with them in the first place.

Ten years ago, when I was still finding my way with a camera, I spent some time wandering through Mandai.

I photographed doors, shops, strangers, quiet corners and people simply going about their day.

At the time, they were just photographs.

A decade later, they feel like something else.

The people may have moved on.
The shops may have changed.
The city certainly has.

But somewhere inside these frames, that moment still exists exactly as it was.

Perhaps this is what photography really gives us — not a way to stop time, but a way to return to it.
