Carpet cleaning in Brussels for @indikonstories. Indikon works with handmade textiles, crafted in small batches between Brussels and Delhi. When your entire business is built on respect for craft and material, the space your clients walk into has to reflect that. Carpets get soiling from foot traffic, and it builds up gradually and settles deep into the pile. The process: Thorough vacuuming to lift out dry soil High alkaline pre-spray to break down dirt and grime particles Agitation with counter-rotating brushes to work the solution into the fibres Acid rinse extraction to flush everything out and return the fibres to a neutral pH Controlled drying with our own drying equipment Neutral pH matters. Leave a carpet alkaline and it attracts dirt faster and can discolour over time. We work with businesses across Flanders and Brussels. Send a DM or request your free quote via the link in bio. This is one of the illustrations created in collaboration with @indikonstories . The design is inspired by an ancient printing technique; the woodblock printing. This technique involves carving a design into a wooden block, applying dye or ink to the raised surface and firmly stamping it onto a piece of fabric, creating in this way unique repeating patterns. The entire procedure asks precision, patience and several stages. The wood block printing is one of the techniques used by the brand Indikon too, and you can find many items in their shop decorated with it, still using the traditional process. For the painted pattern i used mainly gouache and a thin brush. It needed hours of work and many preparatory sketches. Have you already subscribed to the Indikon's newsletter?? You can find these patterns (and more) and stay up to date with all the activities of the brand. The work behind an illustration is really a lot. Rarely the idea arrives perfectly done in you brain; you have to sketch, sketch, sketch (at least, it works in this way for me!). These are some of the photos taken during the process for creating 6 illustrations inspired by the Minoan art and Indian craftworks, created together with Indikon @indikonstories . During this phase we were choosing the right designs and deciding how to develop them (colour palettes and all the other stuff). I'd say, the Minoan culture gave the subjects, while the Indian crafts gave us colours and lines.  For you, which one of these sketches became the final illustrations? #illustratorlife #illustratorstudio #research #traditionalartdrawing #drawing

Recently I had opened a Substack account and I feel so grateful that so many people have read my last article. At the same way, I'm happy you are liking this "behind the scenes" of my last collaboration with Indikon @indikonstories ; talking about my collaborations, and in this way also talking about other makers and brands, gives really sense to all my artistic journey.  But I honestly didn't expect so much enthusiasm, and, well, I like it, hahaha  So I'm planning to share more contents like this one. Talking more about creativity, crafts and the work of makers and people that work with makers and artists. I often feel a bit, let's say, embarrassed to talk only about my personal projets. Don't get me wrong, I am so grateful for the compliments I receive, yes, but i do not really feel comfortable with it, not totally at least. Being a maker, means be part of a community - locally and internationally. I am not (just) an individual artist, but I am who I am also thanks to the group I am part of. During the years i've met many great talented makers and inspiring people, and i've learnt from each of them. They have inspired me and my work. It is impossible to talk about me and my works, without talking about these people too.  Thank you again, dear fellows, and see you soon! A lot of the personality in the Indikon identity comes from these little symbols. What started as a set of icons inspired by the brand’s references slowly grew into patterns, textures and brand assets that could show up across different touchpoints. For me, they became a way of capturing what makes Indikon so special, its love for craft, culture, community and beautiful things made by hand. #brandidentity #homewarebranding #luxurybranding #homeinspirationideas #indiancraft
