Fun fact: When I was a teenager I had a CD player that could be used as an alarm and it would wake you up with music. Because it played the CD from track one, I had to think very carefully about which album to go for because I wanted the first song to ease me into the day and not be too heavy.

Brandy’s Never Say Never album was my pick for a reeaalllly long time because of how the intro slowly builds into Angel in Disguise. Plus, starting the day with Brandy is always going to set you off on the right foot.

I made this video to be funny, but if I’m ever (God forbid) in a coma, play the Never Say Never album and see if that muscle memory of waking up to it kicks back in 🙏🏼❤️😅

“I Wanna Be Down.” “Baby.” “Best Friend.” “Brokenhearted.” Four singles, each revealing another side of an artist who was already finding her own sound. Brandy spent 89 weeks on the Billboard 200—more than 20 months—and went on to be certified four-times platinum.

In a 1995 interview, Brandy said, “I learned how to express myself through song.” That gift reached people then, and it continues to reach them now.
