As Latinx Heritage Month comes to a close, we’re recognizing four individuals whose work, advocacy and dedication continue to uplift Latinx communities and strengthen the fabric of San Diego County.

Daniela Perez of MANA de San Diego, Emilia Castillo of Platicando Con Mi Gente, Liz Ramírez of Chicano Federation, and Cristina Juarez of Inecui Flower Shop each reflect the strength and spirit of our Latinx community. Through their work, they are paving the way for social mobility and advocating for equity and justice for people across our region.

Latinx Heritage Month has been wonderful, and we will continue to celebrate the culture and uplift our Latinx communities throughout the year.

🌟 Today, we begin Latinx Heritage Month with gratitude, pride, and a renewed commitment to Latina leadership.

We are honored to be recognized by the County of San Diego for our work advancing Latina leadership, educational opportunity, economic mobility, and civic participation across our region. This recognition is especially meaningful as we celebrate 40 years of MANA de San Diego and look ahead to the next chapter of our work.

For four decades, MANA de San Diego has created pathways for Latinas to learn, lead, mentor, and make their voices heard. From middle school and high school students to leadership development, economic mobility, and civic engagement, our work is rooted in the belief that when Latinas have opportunities to lead, our communities are stronger.

We are grateful to Supervisor Paloma Aguirre and Vice Chair Monica Montgomery Steppe for this recognition, and proud to be honored alongside Inecuí, Platicando Con Mi Gente, and Chicano Federation. Congratulations to our fellow honorees and to the many organizations and community leaders who continue to show up for San Diego. 🙌

This recognition reflects the people, stories, cultures, leadership, and contributions that make our region what it is. This is a celebration of all of us.

As we celebrate Latinx Heritage Month, we honor the women who built the foundation before us, the leaders shaping our communities today, and the next generation preparing to carry this work forward.

Here’s to our comunidad, our leadership, and the generations of Latinas who continue to make an impact across San Diego.

We kicked off Latinx Heritage Month with a proclamation celebrating the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of Latinx and Hispanic communities across San Diego County.

With 1.14 million Latinx residents calling San Diego County home, Latinx communities play an important role in shaping the region through culture, leadership, entrepreneurship and service.

We’re proud to recognize Inecui, Platicando Con Mi Gente, Chicano Federation, and MANA de San Diego for their dedication to uplifting communities across our region.

💜
Feliz aniversario Atonaltzin 💜
