Récemment, j’ai découvert un lieu qui m’a totalement émerveillé par la beauté et le savoir-faire de ses créations.

Une collection exceptionnelle de plus de 600 lustres, du XVe siècle à aujourd’hui, exposés au sein du Musée Mathieu et de la Galerie Régis Mathieu. @mathieulustrerie

Chaque objet de lumière dialogue avec des œuvres d’art, offrant une véritable immersion à travers l’histoire de l’art. Une expérience unique, entre patrimoine et création.

A night to remember. Invisible Collection was honored to attend the first Gala of the @manufacturesnationales, held in the most wondrous setting: the Réserve Perret of @mobiliernational - that fabled space where every imaginable piece of noteworthy furniture is preserved for posterity.

Among masterpieces spanning four centuries, there was not an ounce of nostalgia. Everything felt vividly present, alive with the energy of the artisans, maisons, and institutions shaping what comes next.

Our warmest thanks to @mobiliernational, the @manufacturesnationales, and @hervelemoine for convening such a remarkable community of designers, patrons, and collectors, and for reaffirming the essential role of public institutions in sustaining and projecting French savoir-faire.

From the exhibition “Sèvres, une passion Rothschild” to a dinner served on historic @sevresmanufactureetmusee services, the evening traced a seamless dialogue between heritage and creation. A celebration not only of craftsmanship, but of the ecosystem that sustains it.

This video gathers a few reflections from my conversations with Régis and Inès at the AD Design Show. As we walked through the exhibition, we spoke about craft, emotion and the way a chandelier sits in a space like a sculpture, a piece of art that now finds its place in contemporary homes.

Régis shared how he studies the history of each chandelier, its techniques, its materials and its journey from past to present. For him, bringing a chandelier into a modern interior is like bringing in a work of art. It is never only about functional light, but about the energy, memory and beauty it carries.

Inès spoke about learning from her family’s legacy and the responsibility of carrying that craft forward with sensitivity and intention.

Again and again, our conversations returned to one idea. Design styles may evolve, but the cultural significance of a chandelier remains a bridge that connects heritage with the world we live in today.

I will soon share more moments of Régis and Inès expressing their ideas in greater depth. Régis, especially, offered such thoughtful insight from decades of engagement with the craft of light. It was an honour to learn from him, both during his panel presentation and through our many conversations.

Honoured to open the AD Design Show 2025 alongside @amyastley @komalinga and Kavinder Singh of Pidilite, setting the tone for a weekend celebrating bold ideas, exceptional craft and the power of great design. A highlight was unveiling our central installation by @regis_mathieu of @mathieulustrerie the visionary French designer and heritage restorer behind some of the world’s most iconic chandeliers.

This video captures a joyful part of our day at the AD Design Show. I walked through the exhibition with Régis Mathieu and Inès Mathieu, who travelled from France to share their knowledge of chandeliers here in Mumbai.

As we explored the aisles, I loved watching them pause at different stalls, noticing materials, textures and small design details that often go unseen. Every stop became a tiny exchange about beauty, intention and technique.

It was inspiring to observe how they look at the world and how naturally they connect with people and objects. Régis shared how design carries its own energy and how he is instinctively drawn to pieces through the energetic pull they hold. This insight of his will stay with me.

The video closes with a moment from Régis’s panel, where he speaks about light and emotion with so much joy and conviction. His passion for craft is positively infectious!

What began as a simple walk through the show became a gentle reminder of why design and craft matter, and why I love being part of this world.

Inside the Hall of Mirrors, Château de Versailles.

Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Palace of Versailles remains one of the greatest achievements of 17th-century French art and architecture.

At its heart stands the iconic Hall of Mirrors, a grand Baroque gallery designed to embody the power and splendour of Louis XIV. It was the first time in history that so many mirrors were gathered in a single room. The hall became a symbol of prosperity, artistic innovation, and France’s mastery of mirror-making at a time when such craftsmanship was considered a rare luxury. Its radiance has captivated visitors for centuries. By day, sunlight from it's tall windows dance across 357 mirrors; by night, its chandeliers cast an infinite glow that shimmers across the entire hall.

Over the next few posts, we will highlight how heritage continues to spark dialogue across cultures as Mathieu Lustrerie gears up to exhibit and speak at a panel for the upcoming AD Design Show.

La collection NICKEL - OR , créee par Henri Mathieu dans les années 70 prend des couleurs sous l’impulsion de Inés Mathieu . Façonnées en aluminium brossé, ces pièces aux formes fluides et spiralées captent la lumière avec justesse et poésie, projetant reflets et ombres mouvantes sur les murs, comme une chorégraphie silencieuse.
À mi-chemin entre luminaire et sculpture, ces créations emblématiques incarnent la lustrerie moderne sans jamais renier leur ADN artisanal. Elles sont aujourd’hui encore produites à la main, et séduisent les amateurs de design par leur équilibre entre simplicité formelle, précision technique et élégance radicale.
