🚨PSUA Raises $2,000 for Cassandra Woodland’s Fight Against Cancer, Love Conquers ALL🚨

A son’s love for his Mother and a Mother’s love for her son is REAL (swipe to end to see the moment). When something adverse like cancer intervenes, this bond becomes even stronger. Yesterday at the Adler Gymnasium on the Penn State Altoona University Campus, we witnessed this love between Mother and Son as Kevin Woodland Jr. played for his Mother Cassandra Woodland who is battling breast cancer!

On the court both women’s and men’s games were electric. In the women’s game, Jaidyn McCracken had herself a day, hitting 5, 3-balls in the first half alone. Despite this effort, the women’s team lost to a very good PSU Behrend team. The men’s game was an instant classic, going to OT. Led by Dwayne Jones and Jarrett Gardner, PSUA dominated the paint all night. This game came down to a last second shot in OT that PSUA barely missed. This was BY FAR the best game of the Sideline Cancer Basketball Season and the men’s team should be proud of their effort!

While the play on the court was energetic, the real story took place off the court. Between sales of the Sideline Cancer Merch, Online Donations and those collected by the @psuadanceteam in the stands, TOGETHER we raised $2,000 to support Cassandra Woodland in her fight against cancer. When great teams and communities come together for a greater purpose, it is then that we can change the world!

Thank you to the PSUA Coaches and Admin. that have made this game possible for a decade!

Believe Always💜

Yesterday marked the end of the Sideline Cancer Season at Penn State Altoona’s, Adler Gymnasium, in what proved to be one of the best crowds and games of the year as the men’s team won in OT. While the atmosphere was electric, the real reason we played was to honor the life of Chip Huston, father of Sarah Huston, who tragically lost his battle to cancer last year. The family was in attendance for the game despite Sarah’s mother being recently diagnosed with cancer. While Sarah could only make an appearance in the game after suffering a season ending knee injury in Jan., the PSUA Community came together to raise $1,500 at this event. The play on the court was spectacular, but the generosity of the fans was even greater. Thank you Penn State Altoona for allowing us to be part of such a special event and we can’t wait to come back next year! Believe Always, Together We Can Sideline Cancer💜
