🎸 ALBUM SPOTLIGHT: 1979 — Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush, Tales of the Unexpected
Released in 1979, Tales of the Unexpected was the seventh studio album from Canadian rock guitarist Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush.
Marino was often compared to Jimi Hendrix, but Tales of the Unexpected showed that he was far more than an imitator. His blistering guitar work, heavy riffs and psychedelic edge gave the album its own distinctive identity.
🔥 An underrated gem from the golden age of guitar-driven rock. One of my favorite guitar players and white label promo makes this a keeper. Thanks @infinityrecordsltd

It’s time for another edition of Lists That Nobody Asked For.

This time, we’re reviewing my ten (an arbitrary and round number) favorite record stores, where I give no context, no for reasons choosing them, and no details about them - just that you should go.

For those of you who aren’t into poorly executed, non-uniform screenshots, here’s a list in no particular order (seriously) of these 🦄 magical 🪄 vinyl-slinging establishments:

-Human Head Records (Brooklyn, New York)

-High Fidelity Records (Amityville, New York)

-Infinity Records (Massapequa, New York)

-A-1 Record Shop (East Village, New York)

-Siren Records (Doylestown, Pennsylvania)

-Joint Custody (Washington D.C.)

-Record Reserve (Huntington, New York)

-Autumn Records (Waterbury, Vermont)

-Rust & Wax Record Shop (West Palm Beach, Florida)

-Technique Records (Miami, Florida)

Judas Priest - “Stained Class”

You cannot and I repeat cannot beat Judas Priest albums from the 70’s. Another one from the bins @infinityrecordsltd

This woman’s music always spoke to me in two ways - class and sophistication. If successful living had a soundtrack, it would be filled by Sade’s voice.

Another great find @infinityrecordsltd - she is NOT easy to come by in the wild so it was a great surprise to find her in the bin last week. 🙌

The Cramps
“Songs the Lord Taught Us”

It’s a reissue; but so rare to come across any of their material out in the wild. Timeless album by one the greats showcasing a top 5 guitar influence of mine - thx @infinityrecordsltd 🙌

Great afternoon at @infinityrecordsltd

Repurchased (a few of) my vintage Judas Priest records I sold long ago - glad to have them back home. 2 of the 3 were definitely the copies I owned 10+ years ago so it means a lot to me.
