Big love, Chicago!

A poet’s having a hard time finding the words to recap the energy and the experiences of this past weekend, but it was everything, forreal.

Truly grateful to all involved 🤝 This work is just the beginning... Look forward to building more and being back soon.

BTS from “Corner Store” by Influential & Beneficial feat. True Khepra — dropping soon 🎞️

This wasn’t just a video shoot. The art was dope, but the energy of the commUNITY made it unforgettable ✨

When we come together, it’s powerful 💎 Thank you to all involved.

We met 20 years ago here📍and became #brothers and now we’ve returned to the youth center that once held us. Not with a sentence this time, but to bring hope to the next generation.

The same tables we ate at, the same dorms we slept in, same gym we played and fought in, with 20 years of youth passing through behind us. Back then, we never saw anyone like us come in and share their story. We know how little—places like this often have to offer, so coming back was important.

And the youth dug it. Not only at Greenridge Youth Center but Backbone Mountain and Victor Cullen, a total of three facilities we ran programming and created a space where they felt comfortable to speak, be heard, gain insight, and imagine new possibilities, knowing that there are people out here rooting for them.

Please make sure you’re tuned in to our nonprofit page @beyondcitylimits_youth where you’ll find much more of this work to come, and help us turn it up!

Special thanks to everyone who supported this vision—the impact we made is also your impact, made possible through your support. And we’re glad to share this experience with you all.

We’re going back into Greenridge Youth Center, the place that once held us. 20 yrs later— this time, as Founder and Co-Founder of @beyondcitylimits_youth, stepping in as leaders to bring hope, encouragement, and possibilities beyond our city’s limits— streets and jail.

We’ll be spending our Labor Day Weekend with young men in Greenridge, Backbone Mountain, and Victor Cullen Youth Center’s.

Big thank you to all who supported and donated to this effort making this vision real.

Meeting our sister for the first time this weekend was amazing 🖤

I like to be around my siblings because you can just feel it, like the universe put us here together like we are ONE, could feel that energy like we are the same! And I understand their struggle all too well, empathize with it and fight for it because it’s the same as mine…

Powerful smiles!

It's month 2 of our Fellowship program, and last week our Fellows experienced their first hands-on filmmaking learning session: Introduction to Camera and Cinematography with Film Instructor Anthony Artis. During this session, our Fellows were able to learn the ropes of a professional camera and begin filming a short horror film. #secondchances #opportunity #camera #film #nyc #ny

I am extremely proud of my Family for coming together each day. When you do the right thing good things happen. The path we all have decided to take. Faith has guided us all to give up our old ways of thinking and start fresh. We all are actively planning and pursuing a career in digital media. The inspiration, the strides, and the change. No matter how subtle. I see the progress every day. This is my crüe, All thanks to second chance studios.

We would like to introduce our 2022-2023 cohort! It has been a pleasure getting to know everyone through orientation this week, and we will be sharing our Fellows' bios in more detail here soon. Interests within this group range from storytelling, drawing, producing music, documentary filmmaking, and more! We cannot wait to share their progress over the next couple of months. #secondchances #opportunity #photography #digitalmedia #ny #nyc

Our August event was phenomenal at @dearmamanyc 🗣❤️‍🔥

Shout out to to our vendors:
@___pineapples__
@crystallizedliving
@jazimations
@tongue_tied8 @cosmicflameshop @thespiritualcrossroads @deathwishsocietycraft and our photographer @elydeflor 💗

Most importantly to all of you! The performers, audience, and staff!

We’re an art collective movement to spread community and love across NYC. One community that supports all communities as We started OMR because we wanted to give a space to amplify all voices and FOUR years later here we are! 🙏🏾

Special shout out to the creatives whom shaped OMR from 2018 till now. We couldn’t do it without all your support and love.

Like Rumi said, "beyond right doings and wrong doings, there is a FIELD, I will meet you there."

We meet on the mic every time and the collective will always continue! MASSIVE LOVE 🗣💜

Saturday 9/3 I had the pleasure and honorable opportunity to share the stage with some powerful poets & artists at @24hrsofpeace ☮ 🎤in Newark, NJ. Hosted by @queenlatifah @rasbaraka. Salute to @urbankweenbrand
For making it happen. I also got to see @myfabolouslife
@therealfaithevans
@lilcease perform which was pretty dope.

Afterwards I had a fun feature set performance accompanied by a jazz band at the Bohemian festival in Rahway hosted by @acp_arts 🎶🎵🗣

A wonderful way to kick off the month of September which will be absolutely jam-packed with numerous events, performances and now full time teaching again. Stay tuned for more exciting updates coming soon. Much love yall
