London. Nottinghill Carnival. (3)
There is no other cultural event like this. Anywhere else.
More than 2 million people:
A festival in a neighborhood that looks like a warzone.

I was there with @shootlikealocal and an amazing group with @inge_colijn @sandromanni @wishmcr70 and @hltulner

Sandro Manni (@sandromanni ) was one of the participants to last week’s workshop to London and the Notting hill carnival.
When Sandro photographs, he works with 2 different visions: a more poetic one and a more layered vision.
This set combines these two visions and holds a beautiful balance between them.
I am sure you’ll enjoy this series!

Other participants were @hltulner @wishmcr70 and @inge_colijn
@giedovanderzwan was leading the workshop.

Look at this catchy set from our most recent workshop to London by @hltulner
Hilbert made some amazing layered images that also include a sense of emotion and involvement! This is selection from the 5 days that we spent in the different neighborhoods, from the city to Soho, and from South Bank to Shoreditch. Hilbert has caught the spirit of the places he visited.
Enjoy!

A new and beautiful set from our most recent workshop to London by @inge_colijn
Inge shows a great eye for the diversity of the city and visualizes it with intriguing layered images that are worthwhile exploring! This is her selection from the 5 days that we spent in the different neighborhoods, from the city to Soho, and from South Bank to Shoreditch. Inge had also some very nice images from the carnival that show a street look…. not the festival itself, but the svcenes around it caught Inge’s eye. Enjoy!

Hello, this is Ella again !

This weekend, we are launching our summer Instagram only hashtag series, different ways of looking at summer in the urban environments and public spaces. Our first focus will be looking at water. Use #WiS_Summer26_WaterCity through July 31, and I will be showcasing highlights from the submission on weekends throughout the month.

Today you’ll see photos of natural water sources in cities and their benefits in hot weather !

The subject of water in cities during the summer is becoming more and more important with every degree of global warming that brings us closer to the boiling point.
Water has always been part of villages, towns, and later cities. Building settlements in places without a natural water source is a relatively modern concept. For centuries, people depended on rivers, lakes, or springs for drinking, cooking, washing, and later for powering mills and machinery. The natural power of these resources was essential. Water also naturally became a place of leisure and refreshment, especially in hot regions and during the warmer months in colder climates.

The impact of water on the quality of life in cities during summertime is crucial !

For a couple of decades now, we have seen a movement back toward these fundamentals, bringing water back to the forefront even in the most vibrant and high-tech cities. In many ways, water is becoming urban infrastructure once again—not only as a resource, but as a way of making cities healthier, cooler, and more livable. The rehabilitation of the Cheonggyecheon Stream in Seoul in 2005 is perhaps one of the most spectacular examples of this approach. But large-scale urban projects are only one part of this movement. Most of you have surely seen the Canal Saint-Martin transformed into a swimming spot during the month of June in Paris!
Yay for water cities! 💙
