☮️I AM ASHELY EARTHCHILD (PT 1)☮️ This year I lost the career I spent 7 years working towards and it forced me to go all in on myself. After nearly a decade of being of service to our most vulnerable people in the community, my life has entirely switched gears from an intense, adrenaline filled existence, into a softer, slower, creative world.

As a Virgo, naturally I loved a service based career. It gave me purpose to hold space for those struggling with homelessness, mental health barriers, domestic violence, human trafficking, and displaced youth & elders. I am eternally grateful for the positions I held in various programs. I was able to be a part of so many people's unique stories.

But something was missing.... I was always tired, constantly burnt out, struggling with coworkers, and would cry on the way to work. I watched myself transform into a version of me that was unrecognizable. It was the most money I had ever made and I was exhausted. I had no energy remaining for my creative pursuits, which has always been at the forefront of my life. I was (am) single and living alone in an insane rental market. Leaving such a high paying position felt impossible. So I kept the golden handcuffs.

This past Christmas morning, I was taken by ambulance and had to get emergency surgery. I had been so zeroed in on my job I didn't even realize I had two organs failing. My gallbladder was removed and I received a liver diagnosis that I am now trying to heal. My doctor told me I needed to think hard about the levels of stress I had in my life and do whatever I could to tend to that. I had a month off work and I knew that I needed to slow down and figure out a way to leave my career so I could heal. But I didn't know how. I started saving money. 5 months passed, I still wasn't sure how to start my life over. I was terrified but dreaming constantly of being more creative and free. Until one day in May, the company let me go. For reasons unbeknownst to me. Done.

It was the universe letting me know: this life has expired.

Stay tuned August 23rd for an opening show at our new location featuring a very special guest.

We are so thankful for the years we had in the @blairsbootcamp building. For 3 years we made epic art and met so many incredible people. This space was a dream and brought so many creatives together for collaboration. We are truly grateful for the experience.

The time had come we found something more accessible. We found a unit on a main floor that allows us to have a bright shooting space, our own washroom, a separate area for storage, and a bigger darkroom.
