A simple concept it might be:
to write food into poetry;
I mean, it has been done before,
so here’s my take—who’s keeping score?

Gingerbread houses? Oh yeah, it’s been used,
as for the gingerbread men? So abused.
So before you go an call me a glutton—
in this piece you won’t find even one gumdrop button.

What about marzipan? So over done...
Mouse Kings, and nights of one thousand and one.
Turkish delight? Once found in the cupboard...
or was it in the wardrobe of Old Mother Hubbard?

Then there are the apples; all shiny and red,
but watch out if you eat them, you might end up dead!
Of course, you might just get kissed awake,
by some handsome stranger, for goodness sake!

Blueberries make you violet, and fat,
and tea drinking requires a silly hat.
Everything you eat makes you shrink or grow...
in case you thought Alice wasn’t in the know.

A spoon full of sugar, a bit of stone soup,
should cure what ails you, will help you recoup.
And don’t let me tell you what happens, my snookie,
when in fact, you give a mouse a cookie. ……….Brandy Lane

Good morning Wigglers, Wordsmiths and Creatives in general.
The next Jam Hafla is on the 25th of October and will be Halloween themed, so please come fancy dressed accordingly. Obviously you don't have to wear a Halloween costume, but it would make the day that extra little bit more fun if you did. If you would like a performance spot, please contact me, tickets are only a fiver. This is a variety show, but a very informal one. In truth, it's just a fun excuse for a gathering, so we can all let our hair down. This is an event where we can all get up and do something brave, whilst feeling nurtured. PG performances only please, as this is a family event. Bear in mind that this is about women's supporting women. The Jam cafe is a wonderfully safe space where you can be you, lgbtqia welcome. Please share 🙏💃🎃💚✌️

In March 2023, while on vacation in Old Montreal, beloved pediatrician, student, sister, daughter, and poet Cosmic Doctor Bunny fell victim to a horrific death in a massive five-alarm fire. The blaze was set by the hands of a convicted serial killer and madman. Her loss, like her poetry, was felt and shared in shockwaves across social media. After her tragic and untimely passing, her fans became the caretakers of her legacy, collecting and preserving what they could from the thousands of poems she left behind. Through the collective efforts of a small circle of friends, devoted fans, and the man who loved her most, her work now exists in a form she never lived to see, but had always unequivocally deserved. Out of the ashes of real-life tragedy, comes an unheralded and unparalleled poetic debut in the form of “Cosmic Doctor Bunny: Am I Not Poetry?”. “BONES and STARDUST” is the haunting cornerstone piece of the collection, asking and answering the questions we pose to ourselves about the great beyond.

Am I Not Poetry? is poetry—and so much more. It is the chance to trace Bunny’s words through space and time, where they will now exist until the end of both. Am I Not Poetry? is not just poetry. It is Cosmic Doctor Bunny’s claim to immortality.

Taking a tiny break and reflecting, growing and making decisions, always grateful for all who have impacted my life and some of those amazing I have included in the images, see you when I return, brighter & darker, definitely bolder.

I Am My Own Mirage
Written by @angela_psalm

I have learnt that even the
sharpest edges know the soul.
That without the darkness colour
cannot exude.
That all our imperfections are lessons
for someone else’s role.
Grief is a living thing where pain
is our eternal prelude.

We are lessons for another’s timeline
and our existence is pertinent.
To accept is to grow to find strength
in softness, in vulnerability.
To love one's own failings, blemishes,
the stains that paint our lament.
We are not prisoner’s just philosophers
searching to be free.

Freedom lives within the chain links
of ancestry.
DNA that has survived and thrived
through trauma’s attachment.
Akin to acquiescence and not
rejections validity.
We are the glory, the key, that which
negates the soul’s entrapment.

There are wounds that bleed.
Then there are the ones that remember.

< Love Left It’s Mark >
Some loves are not remembered.
They linger beneath the skin, waiting for the dark to call them home.

You left a handprint on my heart.
It never faded.
Some nights I press against the ache
just to remember how your absence feels.
Love made a home in the places
I swore no one would ever touch,
then left every door open
for longing to move in.

Only in dreams do we
forget who walked away.
Only there do your eyes devour me
without guilt, without goodbye.
I let you ruin my sleep
because it is kinder than waking.
I’d rather burn in the fire of wanting
than freeze in a life
where you never wanted me back.

If love is a sin,
then let heaven keep its distance.
I have spent too many nights
kneeling before memories
that still know exactly
where to kiss a wound
without ever closing it.
