That’s NOT steam, that is NOT vapor. That’s smoke from the DTE Stockton biomass plant one of the tenants at the Port of Stockton. 💨 🏭
The plant burns wood waste (biomass) trucked in from around the region to make electricity. Their communities get to stay clean while ours has to breathe this deadly toxic smoke. This is the largest source of NOx pollution in our community and one of the largest in the state, at about 103 tons a year according to the Valley Air District. That’s comparable to roughly 20,000 cars driven non-stop for a full year, from ONE smokestack.
NOx feeds smog and fine particle pollution (PM 2.5) that make asthma and lung disease worse. PM 2.5 is dangerous because it is small enough to enter your lungs and blood stream.
Our neighborhoods already carry too much of this burden. Clean air shouldn’t depend on your zip code.

ABOUT JOTA:🌈
JOTA is a powerful solo performance by Katherine Bahena-Benitez. It follows a young queer Mexican Indigenous woman as she navigates identity, belonging, and transformation at a pivotal moment in her life. Reclaiming a term historically used to shame LGBTQIA+ communities. The production centers resilience, healing, and self-determination through an intersectional lens of culture, queerness, and lived experience.

We can’t wait to meet and see you all so soon! 🌹⭐️💛✨
