GRAMMY-nominated chamber orchestra pushing the boundaries of classical music with performances that reach across genres and generations.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

So much to be excited about this season! 🎶

For the Columbia Orchestra's 50th season, we're celebrating with a run of fifth symphonies: Beethoven, Schubert, Tchaikovsky, and Mahler, plus a cheeky nod to what Schoenberg joked was Brahms' "Fifth," his orchestration of the G minor Piano Quartet. We'll also welcome some dear friends and colleagues as soloists, in works including Ruth Gipps' Oboe Concerto, music by Ellington and Jobim, and Mozart's Fifth Violin Concerto.

Full-circle moment this spring: I'll be leading the University of Maryland Symphony Orchestra in a concert that includes Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances. Same halls and rehearsal rooms as my undergrad. I can't wait to work with these incredible students. 🐢

And Inscape returns with a series of concerts at BlackRock Center for the Arts and Linehan Concert Hall at UMBC. Not to miss the party of fifth symphonies, we’ll be performing Joolz Gale’s marvelous transcription of Prokofiev’s Fifth Symphony.

Dates in the slides. Hope to see you there!

It’s going to be a wonderful month of music, and I’m excited to share a few of the highlights I’ll be a part of.

Honoring Traditions

I’ll be joining the New Orchestra of Washington (NOW) as Principal Horn for a special program honoring Día de los Muertos at the Mexican Cultural Institute.

A Masterpiece

I’m looking forward to performing the challenging and beautiful solo horn part in the chamber arrangement of Mahler’s 4th Symphony with the fantastic Inscape Chamber Orchestra! Catch this program at UMBC and the Black Rock Center for the Arts.

Inspiring the Next Generation

To wrap up the month, the National Philharmonic is gearing up for their annual Youth Concerts, performing for all 2nd graders in Montgomery County Public Schools. It’s truly special to introduce orchestral music to so many young listeners.

I hope to see you at one of these performances this November! 📯📯

It would be wrong to say that I’m “excited” for this concert. I love the music and am honored to be able to perform it. But the pieces on this program ask us what our relationship is to war, fighting for what we believe is right, and feelings of hopelessness. In the wake of the election and growing unrest in the world, these questions are important to consider. Please come if you are in the area. It will be a powerful experience. Saturday at 5 in Silver Spring, MD and Sunday at 3 at UMBC. More info at www.Inscape.org. @inscapeco

NYC! I’ll be speaking about music for healing and the aging brain at @cmf_nyc on June 28! This is a pre-concert talk for the @harlemquartet who I’m beyond excited to hear… as well as @hudsontrumpet and a world premiere by composer @ania_vu. I was just told you can come early to grab a sandwich and drinks before the talk & concert! And come the NEXT morning June 29 for my family activation on music and the brain, featuring my children’s musical @rhythmgrowsyourbrain where I’ll be joined for the first time ever by clarinetist @yasminaspiegelberg! Both events will have colorful take-home guides for using music to support optimal brain growth and healing at home across the lifespan. See comment below for an exclusive discount code! ✨
