Chasing these bears is always a kick in the coin purse. There are 3 chances to win a bear. First for day one’s overall, second for day two’s overall lastly one for the overall of both days combined.

Day 1. Moto 1 had my smoothest ride and my best start at the event. After the start I was in the mix of the top 3. Went back and forth with the group and even raced for the top spot for a second. I have never been that far up so that was an absolute blast for me. As the moto went on the pecking order settled and I finished in 5th. Tying my best finish ever here. Moto 2 had a decent start and was in bearitory but ended up spinning around myself twice then kept making little mistakes fading to 11. Bummed after how well moto 1 was but that was good for 8th on the day and my first bear of the trip!

Day 2 fight. Moto 1 average start but made good moves. At the bottom of the first downhill there is a 180 right that goes up another hill. Was on the outside looking up when a rider pushed from the inside and swept my front wheel out. Second photo shows me looking up as last place rides away. With a twisted up front end I put my head down and rode. With 8th on day 1 every position counted for another bear. Came last to 15th when all was done. Moto 2 was feeling pretty funky. Left knee hurting(still is), right thigh feeling a deep bruise forming and a bit nauseous. An average start then just kinda blanked out. Every spot counts. At the finish everyone in my pit said they had counted me in 8th. 15-8 put me at 11th on the day so no bear. 8-11 for the weekend was not just good but good enough for 9th place bear for the overall!
