Our latest design project — a poster design for Thriftplek’s Thrift Link-Up — carries a bold grunge-retro aesthetic that reflects the energy of skateboarding, streetwear, and thrift culture. This theme captures the underground, DIY spirit of the event, speaking directly to a youthful audience that values authenticity and creativity. The overall look is raw, eye-catching, and rooted in the culture it’s designed for.

A key feature of the poster is the grainy/noise texture overlay, which gives the design the feel of a vintage photocopy or screen-print. This rough, tactile finish embraces imperfection and individuality — ideals closely tied to both skateboarding and thrifting communities. Rather than aiming for a polished corporate look, the poster communicates its message through grit and character, setting the right tone for the event.

The color palette makes a strong visual impact, with a split-duotone background of muted pink and blue creating balance and contrast. On top of this, the bold black typography with textured fills ensures the event details stand out clearly. Blended into the background are silhouettes of figures wearing jeans, belts, and skate-inspired clothing, tying the design back to the lifestyle and culture behind the gathering. Together, these elements create a striking and culturally aligned poster for Thriftplek’s Thrift Link-Up.
