***THANK YOU***

Some thank you’s are in order when it comes to Acoustic Guitars

First off a big thanks to Mike and Nelson for all of their hard work on this track. Their parts changed completely and they rose to the challenge that Mark Howard threw at them. The rhythm section of this song is ridiculous. Nelson’s guitar solo at the end of the song is so tasty too. Probably so many calories.

Big thanks to Mark Howard for helping us take this song to the next level. The moves he made in only a few hours made this tune come alive. I’ve never had a recording experience feel this organic before…thanks to him for teaching us this way of doing things.

Big thanks to Josh Bowman for helping in a lot of ways the last few months and for knocking this mix out of the park. He somehow made a mix that FEELS like it did in the room.

Big thank you to Peter Van Helvoort for saving us and hooking us up with this amazing spot to record.

Big thanks to the Inside Pocket team who helped get the ball rolling for this new recording session and for being great people always.

Big thanks to Spencer at Believe for all his support the last few months getting this single prepped for the digital masses.

Big thanks to Jenn Kavanagh for the single cover and press photos. She’s been making me look better than I do in band photos for years…

Biggest thank you goes to every one of YOU listening, coming to shows and sharing our stuff.

I’m really proud of this one

Lots of love

Mattie

I just noticed that some of the online versions of my interviews I have conducted for Tape Op magazine are reproduced on their web site in their entirety (whereas usually a bit of an article/interview is up there but it gets cut off with a notice that one has to sign up for a basic or premium account for a nominal fee in order to be able to read the rest of it.)

here are a handful of articles that are up there on tapeop.com in their entirety...including one of my faves- the Daniel Lanois interview from 2003! (With the exception of one, these go wayyyy back!) Thanks to editor Larry Crane and publisher & designer John Baccigaluppi for running my interviews for over 20+ years and counting!

Here are the interviews/articles...enjoy!...

🫧MNM Birthday week🫧
.
I will be taking tomorrow off from the internet so here's a Sunday post with a Monday feel.
.
Please Don't Be Late is the first single from My Next Mistake. I'd say the photo is the best one from the whole cycle. It's by @thisisjenjett and @oldenightrifter. It's also the only time I've heard my music in a bank! I was in line at the cobourg TD. I thought my phone came on so was scrambling to turn off the song. Then I realized it was coming from the ceiling. I lol'd really loud and yelled, " omg that's me!" 😎
.
@thomas_knox_darcy did an amazing job w this one. We all did. @annaruddick (ANN RUDDICK 🤦🏼‍♀️) @adamhindle @jimmybowskill
.
Thanks again to @tinnitist for the kind words and the premiere!

Luna Li’s debut album Duality is out!

I’ve been working on this album with Luna over the past 4 years. It’s been interesting to work on a project over such a long period of time with an ever changing finish line. But in the end, the process was as long as it needed to be and I couldn’t be more proud of this record and of the artist @lunalilunalilunali has become.

The ambitiousness of this record constantly pushed me to be a better producer and mixer. I am super grateful to have been able to help Luna bring her vision to life.
