This post is terribly late! In July I ordered this beautiful collage painting done by Michael Wurm Jr (@inspiredbycharm). I was about to go on a short vacation and I contacted Michael. He was so gracious about it and delayed shipping it from PA to CA. A wonderful thing happened when the parcel was delivered on my birthday! Thank you, Michael. The painting is lovely and it was packed so nicely with a sweet note and a surprise notecard to send later.
If you haven’t checked out @inspiredbycharm check out his IG page. You will be happy you did!

Day 6 #stradaeasel I am still working on learning to draw form better, but since I am taking a trip next month where I plan to bring gouache, because it is easier to travel with than oils, and I don’t have a lot of experience with gouache, I spent the day watching wonderful gouache instructional videos from @sarahburnsstudio and doing some practicing with water handling and making color charts. I needed to do my challenge post so I christened a new sketchbook that was recommended by Michael Wurm @inspiredbycharm and painted this little pot of petunias that is on my front porch. The sketch book held up really well to gouache. It’s been a while since I have used fast drying media—the good and the bad. I liked the ease of layering, but the paint dried so fast! I’ll be doing a lot more watching Sarah’s videos and practicing this month before my trip.

So happy to announce that this flower painting SOLD! 🩷🙌

I’m always so humbled and excited that someone wants my art in their precious homes.

Thank you to everyone who supports artists!
You are supporting their dreams.
You are allowing another human to pay their bills by sharing their passions.

We all have passions and dreams to share.
I feel like it’s all teamwork!

Painters, authors, hairstylists, tarot card readers and healers, chefs…
Every one of us has something to offer that brings light and love to another.

And so goes the story for this flower.
@inspiredbycharm grew this gorgeous flower and shared the beauty to his following (you should follow if you don’t already!)

It always starts with one ☝️
And then the rest happens ✨

Thanks to all!!

Come along for the tape peel and reveal (that rhymed!)

Backstory: @inspiredbycharm posted this gorgeous flower from his garden.
I gasped and knew I wanted to try to paint it. And he said yes!
Then I found this perfect arch-shaped, and framed painting surface.
I taped the beaded metal frame, gessoed the surface and painted this with oil paints.

The colors make me happy. And not only the bright colors of the main flower -
I adore the muted background plums and violets, as well as the mix of greens - teals, blue/greens, deep evergreens, and bright lime greens - I feel like it has a balance of it all. My palette is a happy mess!

For me, it’s not everyday that I find that combo. And while I would have liked to mix up more violet blues in the main petals to make a different pink, I’m so happy with the finished piece. (And that doesn’t happen everyday either!!) IYKYK!

This piece will be up on my website tomorrow but if you’re interested in this one of a kind painting just DM 🩷

A very warm morning at O'Hara Township Community Park with @inspiredbycharm and @kaitbower. We at least had shade and a little breeze and little art critics with their parents cruising by in their way to the playground. Gouache and some soft pastel on smooth gesso board, 9x12 in.

Last night with Urban Sketchers Pittsburgh looked a little different… and so much fun 🎨✨
We switched it up at Spinning Plate Gallery—sketching each other instead of the scene. And honestly? We were all a little amazed at how still everyone stood while being sketched 👏
What made it even better was seeing how each artist approached the challenge—different styles, different marks, different ways of seeing. That’s the magic of it.
It’s never just about the sketch—it’s about the people, the process, and showing up together.

Join us anytime on Thursday nights! And be sure to follow along on Facebook & Instagram to catch upcoming sketch meetups and locations.
Come draw with us 💛

Yesterday’s group opening show was a success! Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s exhibition. It’s amazing to see all your work up on the walls. All the hard work you put into making this show happen truly paid off—give yourselves a well-deserved pat on the back.

For anyone interested, the gallery hours and location info are pinned on this page. Not all participating artists are pictured in this photo, but your contributions are just as appreciated.
